Article Abstract

Lignans are widely existed in natural world with a variety of structures and bioactivities, including anti-tumor, antiinflammatory, anti-viral and hepatoprotective properties. Along with the development of new techniques in phytochemistry and application of advanced drug screening methods, a variety of lignans have been identified and their bioactivities revealed. In this review, we summarized the activities of six different types of lignans, including arylnaphthalene, dibenzylbutyrolactone, tetrahydrofuran, dibenzylbutane, dibenzocyclooctadiene and neolignan, in order to provide an updated overview of this research field.

[Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) : a GIP/GLP-1 receptor dual agonist for the treatment of type 2 diabetes].

Rev Med Liege

September 2025

Service de Diabétologie, Nutrition et Maladies métaboliques, CHU Liège, Belgique.

Tirzepatide is a unimolecular dual agonist of both glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors, recently commercialized and reimbursed in Belgium for the treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Because of the complementarity of action of the two incretins, tirzepatide showed, in a dose-dependent manner (5, 10 and 15 mg as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection), a better efficacy (greater reduction in HbA1c and body weight) compared with placebo, semaglutide 1 mg, basal insulin and preprandial boluses of insulin lispro in six studies of the SURPASS programme. Tirzepatide tolerance is almost similar to that of pure GLP-1 receptor agonists, with digestive adverse events, most often during the first weeks after initiation, which justifies the recommendation of progressive titration every four weeks.

This review aims to describe the role of poly-ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) in the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), an aggressive and lethal form of the disease. The introduction of PARPi has led to improved prognosis, particularly in patients with at least one somatic or germline mutation in DNA damage repair genes such as BRCA1 or BRCA2. Several recent studies have shown that PARPi, used alone or in combination with abiraterone or enzalutamide, improve progression-free survival and overall survival in patients with mCRPC.

Oral cancer is a major global health burden, ranking sixth in prevalence, with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) being the most common type. Importantly, OSCC is often diagnosed at late stages, underscoring the need for innovative methods for early detection. The oral microbiome, an active microbial community within the oral cavity, holds promise as a biomarker for the prediction and progression of cancer.

The physical environment exerts a profound influence on microbial life. The directional movement of cells in response to their physical environment is understood as taxis, which has been studied in biology as chemotaxis, phototaxis, gravitaxis and so forth. These taxis are induced by physiological, physical or both factors.

Introduction: Trousseau syndrome (TS) represents a significant vascular thromboembolic event in cancer patients and has progressively gained attention as a critical clinical concern in recent years. The aim of this study is to investigate the survival status and prognostic factors in patients with TS whose initial clinical manifestation was acute ischemic stroke (AIS).

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 24 TS patients hospitalized at the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangsu University between 2018 and 2024.
