Host - microbiome interactions are central to Crohn'sdisease (CD) pathogenesis; yet the early metabolic alterations that precededisease onset remain poorly defined. To explore preclinical metabolicsignatures of CD, we analyzed baseline serum metabolomic profiles in a nestedcase-control study within the Crohn's and Colitis Canada - Genetics, Environment, Microbiome (CCC-GEM) Project, a prospective cohort of 5,122 healthyfirst-degree relatives (FDRs) of CD patients. We included 78 individuals wholater developed CD and 311 matched FDRs who remained disease-free.

Introduction: Food insecurity negatively affects timely access to care, treatment adherence, quality of life, and survival among cancer survivors. There is limited knowledge about cancer survivors' comfort with sharing food insecurity risk for clinical care on a national scale. This study aims to assess comfort with sharing food insecurity risk for clinical care among adults with and without a cancer history and to identify factors that may be associated with comfort for sharing food insecurity risk.

Background: Advance care planning (ACP) conversations happen infrequently even for patients with serious illness. Because patients are seen across settings, a unified approach to ACP is important in large integrated health systems.
Objective: To describe the structural and clinical process changes implemented by a large health system to improve and expand ACP for older adults.

Background And Purpose: Patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) are prescribed many medications for symptomatic relief. However, how potential alterations to the blood-brain barrier (BBB) affect the brain exposure of drugs in ALS remains under-investigated.
Experimental Approach: We used high-dimensional proteomic analysis, cellular metabolism, and mitochondrial functional assays to characterise isolated brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs) from wildtype and SOD1 transgenic mice, a mouse model of familial ALS, at a late-symptomatic age (P115-120), together with a transcardiac brain perfusion technique to assess BBB function in situ.
