Article Abstract

A woman with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) experienced rapid regression of retinochoroidal venous collaterals ("optociliary shunt vessels") following optic nerve sheath fenestration. The presence of these vessels is a nonspecific sign of chronic retinal venous compression in patients with optic disc edema including IIH.

The rapid expansion of delivery labor platforms in China has driven many people to move from rural to urban areas. Previous studies indicated that platform-based delivery work can be demanding, subject to algorithmic control, and lacking employment protections. While migrant workers are more likely to be exposed to adverse psychosocial working conditions and more vulnerable due to limited social services, few studies have examined the role of migrant status in mental health and its associations with psychosocial working conditions among platform delivery workers.

Using microplastic-carbon to reassess pollution level of microplastics in urban rivers.

J Hazard Mater

September 2025

Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China, Nanjing 210042, China. Electronic address:

Environmental microplastics (MPs) are challenging to compare due to non-harmonized sampling and quantification methods. As MPs are predominantly composed of recalcitrant organic carbon (OC), they contribute to the total organic carbon (TOC) pool in environments. The concentration of recalcitrant carbon in microplastics (MPC) can theoretically serve as a complementary, standardized mass-based index to characterize MPs pollution levels.

Association between long-term burden of sarcopenia and cardiorespiratory multimorbidity.

J Nutr Health Aging

September 2025

School of Population Medicine and Public Health, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China; State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Health and Multimorbidity, China. Electronic address:

Background: Sarcopenia, the progressive loss of muscle mass and function, is a common condition in older adults and has been linked to both cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic respiratory diseases (CRD). However, the association between long-term changes of sarcopenia and cardiorespiratory multimorbidity remains underexplored. This study aims to investigate how changes in sarcopenia burden over time relate to cardiorespiratory multimorbidity in Chinese adults.

The calculation of the highest occupied molecular orbital-lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) gap for chemical molecules is computationally intensive using quantum mechanics (QM) methods, while experimental determination is often costly and time-consuming. Machine Learning (ML) offers a cost-effective and rapid alternative, enabling efficient predictions of HOMO-LUMO gap values across large data sets without the need for extensive QM computations or experiments. ML models facilitate the screening of diverse molecules, providing valuable insights into complex chemical spaces and integrating seamlessly into high-throughput workflows to prioritize candidates for experimental validation.

Background And Aims: Crohn's disease (CD) exhibits escalating incidence in China, particularly in coastal regions undergoing rapid industrialization. We aim to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of CD and identify factors influencing diagnostic delay in the Yancheng region of China.

Methods: A cross-sectional analysis was conducted on CD patients from two tertiary medical centers (Yancheng TCM Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine and Yancheng No.
