Objective: To study the relationship between the concentration of TGF-beta1, in serum and its gene polymorphisms in CWP.
Methods: 101 cases of coal worker's pneumoconiosis (CWP)were selected. And the peripheral vein blood samples were collected from them. The concentration of TGF-beta1 of their serum were detected with the TGF-beta1 ELISA kit. And their TGF-beta1 gene -509 site polymorphisms were analyzed with the polymerse chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphisms (PCR-RFLP) techniques.
Results: The mean value of TGF-beta1, concentration in serum of T/T, C/T and C/C gene type group were 90 ml, 60 ml and 55.960 +/- 28.833 ng/ ml respectively. Significant differences were observed within the three groups (P<0.05). The differences of the mean value of TGF-beta1, concentration in serum in various work years groups, age groups and in the groups with different stage of pneumoconiosis were not significant (P > 0.05).
Conclusion: The correlative relationship between the concentration of transforming growth factor I (TGF-beta1) in serum and its gene -509 site polymorphisms might be occurring.

Objective: In traditional Chinese medicine, asthma is associated with deficiencies in Lung Qi, Spleen Qi, and Kidney Qi. This study investigated the therapeutic mechanism of point application therapy focusing on the acupoints Feishu (BL13), Pishu (BL20), and Shenshu (BL23) for asthma treatment.
Methods: An asthma model was established in Wistar rats via intraperitoneal ovalbumin injection combined with nebulisation.

Renal fibrosis is the common pathological outcome of chronic kidney disease (CKD) progressing into end-stage renal disease. The excessive proliferation of fibroblasts plays an important role in the CKD progression. Nutrients such as amino acids and their transportation are essential for cell proliferation.

Objectives: Breast-fed (BF) have lower risk of infections during infancy compared to those formula-fed (FF). A higher content of alpha-lactalbumin (α-lac) in breast milk, which may promote a more favorable gut microbiota, could be one reason. In this study, we evaluated whether increased concentration of α-lac in low-protein infant formula affects the immune response and the incidence of infections during infancy.

To evaluate the protective potential of ND-630, an acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) inhibitor, in preventing renal fibrosis using an adenine-induced chronic kidney disease (CKD) mouse model. Male C57BL/6 mice were divided into four groups: control, CKD, CKD + ND-630 low-dose (4 mg/kg/d), and CKD + ND-630 high-dose (16 mg/kg/d). CKD was induced by feeding 0.

Introduction: Renal fibrosis is a significant factor in the progression of chronic kidney disease. This study examined how menthol affects thioacetamide (TA)-induced biochemical, molecular, and histopathological damage that leads to renal fibrosis and dysfunction.
Methods: Male Wistar rats were treated with TA (200 mg/kg, intraperitoneally) twice a week for four consecutive weeks, along with menthol (10 mg/kg, intraperitoneally) for the same duration.
