Diminished gaze fixation is one of the core features of autism and has been proposed to be associated with abnormalities in the neural circuitry of affect. We tested this hypothesis in two separate studies using eye tracking while measuring functional brain activity during facial discrimination tasks in individuals with autism and in typically developing individuals. Activation in the fusiform gyrus and amygdala was strongly and positively correlated with the time spent fixating the eyes in the autistic group in both studies, suggesting that diminished gaze fixation may account for the fusiform hypoactivation to faces commonly reported in autism. In addition, variation in eye fixation within autistic individuals was strongly and positively associated with amygdala activation across both studies, suggesting a heightened emotional response associated with gaze fixation in autism.

Objectives: Faces and bodies serve as important cues of physical attractiveness and reproductive fitness. Previous studies indicate that there are sex-related differences in the visual processing of erotic stimuli. We investigated gaze patterns and sex differences during sexual perception.

Prcis: Protocol 30-2 of Melbourne Rapid Fields, online computer perimetry, provides a portable, reliable, and patient-friendly alternative to Humphrey Field Analyzer 30-2 SITA fast protocol for Japanese all severity stages of glaucoma patients.
Purpose: Melbourne Rapid Fields (MRF) online computer perimetry is a web-browser-based software that offers white-on-white threshold perimetry using any computer. This study evaluates the perimetric results of 30-2 protocol from MRF performed using a laptop computer in comparison to Humphrey Field Analyzer (HFA).

Eye tracking has the potential to be used as a meaningful measure of the consequences of vision impairment (VI), yet a comprehensive test battery is lacking. In this study, we sought to evaluate the feasibility and validity of a test battery of eye movements as a tool to measure visual performance in individuals with VI. A test battery including fixation stability, smooth pursuit, saccades, free viewing, and visual search was administered to 46 athletes with VI and 10 control participants.

Purpose: To investigate eye movement dynamics during excimer laser ablation, specifically femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK), and compare movement patterns between the right eye (always operated on first) and the left eye (operated on second), analyzing direction, magnitude, and temporal changes.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 92 eyes from 46 patients who underwent FS-LASIK with the SCHWIND AMARIS system (SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions). Eye-tracking data were collected to record horizontal and vertical directional movements; variability was assessed using standardized metrics.

Purpose: To compare postoperative vault measurements between horizontal and vertical fixation of the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) (KS-AquaPORT; STAAR Surgical) when its size is determined using the KS formula.
Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 2,343 eyes from 1,275 patients who underwent myopic ICL implantation. Pre-operative anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) (CASIA 2; Tomey Corporation) was performed in both horizontal and vertical orientations.
