Efficient outcoupling of surface-plasma waves to radiation modes by use of dielectric diffraction gratings on a flat metallic surface is discussed. The dielectric gratings, which have a surface-relief structure with only several tens of nanometers in peak-to-trough height on a flat metal surface, can efficiently extract radiation modes propagating in free space from the surface-plasmon modes. An outcoupling efficiency of 50% is estimated with the rigorous coupled-wave diffraction theory, and it is confirmed by the experiment.

Existing microscopy approaches are often unable to identify and contextualize rare but biologically meaningful events due to limitations associated with simultaneously achieving both high-resolution imaging and a cm-scale field of view. Here, we present multiscale cleared tissue axially swept light-sheet microscopy (MCT-ASLM), a platform combining cm-scale imaging with targeted high-resolution interrogation of intact tissues in human-guided or autonomous modes. Capable of capturing fields of view up to 21 mm at micron-scale resolution, MCT-ASLM can seamlessly transition to a targeted imaging mode with an isotropic resolution that approaches ∼300 nm.

Angiography systems offer three dose rate modes (low, normal, and high) for performing fluoroscopy-guided interventional (FGI) procedures, with each mode corresponding to a specific set of parameters. Although the choice of mode should depend on the patient's biotype, such systems are typically shipped from the factory configured to start examinations in normal mode as the default. To reduce both the need for operator intervention during FGI procedures and the exposure of patients to ionizing radiation, we tested a change to the internal setup of an angiography machine in this study, in which the low-dose-rate mode was automatically selected as the default prior to starting a procedure.

Objectives: This in vitro study aims to compare the effect of different light curing modes and curing times on the degree of conversion (DC) and microhardness (MH) of three different bulk fill composites at two different depths.
Materials And Methods: A total of 224 cylindrical specimens (4 mm height, 6 mm diameter) were prepared using four composites: SDR Plus, Ever X Posterior (EXP), Beautifil Bulk Restorative (BBR), and Tetric N Ceram (TNC). Each material group (n = 56) was subdivided into four curing subgroups based on light-curing mode (Low Power or High Power) and exposure time (20-30 s).

Tumor radioresistance and severe toxicity make reirradiation for recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) a significant clinical challenge. This study aims to investigate the ability of the poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor olaparib to sensitize recurrent NPC cells irradiated with photon or carbon ion (C-ion), and to explore the underlying mechanism of the synergistic promotion of cell death by olaparib and ionizing radiation. The results show that olaparib has significant X-ray and C-ion radiosensitization effects on recurrent NPC cells and the associated HK-RR photon-resistant model.

The development of molecules that interact with G-quadruplex (G4) sequences requires effective evaluation methods. Several techniques are currently available, including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and mass spectrometry (MS), fluorescence using FRET-melting, G4-fluorescent intercalator displacement assay (G4-FID) and affinity chromatography. Among these, CD spectroscopy is gaining prominence due to its lower material requirements, faster experimentation and quicker data processing.
