An uncommon case of calcified disc at two levels in the thoracic spine is presented. A 12-year-old girl presented with intervertebral thoracic disc calcification from the levels D7-D8 and D11-D12. Level D7-D8 remained asymptomatic, whereas at level D11-D12 she had spontaneous pain for 10 months. Her symptoms were self-limiting and disappeared with bed rest, analgesics, and the use of a brace. The radiological changes were the same at 4-year follow-up, but the patient remained asymptomatic.

Background: The relationship between intraoperative end-tidal CO (etCO) levels and postoperative outcomes remains unclear. We conducted a post hoc analysis of two randomised trials in adults undergoing major surgery under general anaesthesia.
Methods: We re-analysed individual participant data comparing high or low positive end-expiratory pressure with low tidal volume intraoperative ventilation using a merged database derived from two randomised trials in non-obese (PROVHILO: ISRCTN70332574) and obese (PROBESE: NCT02148692) patients.

Introduction: While nucleus pulposus cell (NPC) degeneration is a primary driver of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), the cellular heterogeneity and molecular interactions underlying NPC degeneration remain poorly characterized. Previous studies have shown that EGFR signaling plays a significant role in NPC differentiation and collagen matrix production. Consequently, this study aims to identify the critical downstream regulatory molecule of EGFR in the process of NPC degeneration.

The supramolecular organization of functional molecules at the mesoscopic level influences their material properties. Typically, planar π-conjugated (disc- or linear-shaped) molecules tend to undergo one-dimensional (1D) stacking, whereas two-dimensional (2D) organization from such building blocks is seldom observed in spite of their technological potential. Herein, we rationally achieve both 1D and 2D organizations from a single planar, π-conjugated molecular system competitive interactions.

This report presents the case of a 36-year-old man complaining of chronic low back pain and numbness along the posterolateral surface of the right leg. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a disc degeneration and protrusion at the L-S level and an extensive fluid-equivalent formation with a craniocaudal dimension of 8 cm at the S-S level. Initially, due to the minimal clinical complaints, the cyst was considered asymptomatic.

Background: Interventions aimed to increase healthcare provider empathy and capacity to deliver person-centered care have been shown to improve healthcare seeking and outcomes. In the context of self-injectable contraception, empathetic counseling and coaching may be promising approaches for addressing "fear of the needle" among clients interested in using subcutaneous depot medroxyprogesterone (DMPA-SC). In Nigeria, the Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC) project developed and evaluated an empathy-based in-service training and supportive supervision intervention for public sector family (FP) planning providers implemented in conjunction with community-based mobilization.
