Background: Excessive inflammatory cytokines are known to impact immune response and autoimmunity. In this study, we quantified the level of interleukin (IL)-6, soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R), glycoprotein 130 (sgp130) and IL-10 to determine their involvement in the pathogenesis of Graves' disease (GD), in addition to the assessment serum cytokines IL-6, sIL-6R, sgp130, and IL-10 performance as biomarkers for the diagnosis of GD.
Methods: A total of 20 patients with GD and 21 healthy individuals from the Indonesian population were enrolled.
Skin ageing is a natural process that occurs in living beings characterized by a decline in the function of tissues and cells, which over time will become apparent through different processes or pathways in various organs, tissues, and cells. Living organisms undergo the ageing process simultaneously with their growth and development, characterized by constant cell division that leads to a decrease in the telomeric region of the chromosome. An active telomerase enzyme that adds a sequence of nucleotides to telomeres can keep them from shortening.

Although tools for measuring stigma against PLWHA have been validated in Indonesia, a previous study was geographically limited and conducted with small sample sizes. The aim of this study was to perform cross-cultural adaptation and validate the psychometric properties of the 9-item Indonesian HIV/AIDS Stigma Scale (InHASS-9) in the Indonesian general population.

Recent studies have shown that flavonoids in black garlic () act as antioxidants. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of black garlic extract (BGE) on gonadosomatic index, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels, and spermatozoa quality in rats exposed to MSG.

This study aimed to determine the sociodemographic factors associated with TB and rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis (RR-TB) cases among presumptive pulmonary TB patients in Aceh Referral Hospital. A retrospective cross-sectional study.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFeasible diagnostic assays are required to detect new tuberculosis (TB) cases and monitor treatment. This study aimed to evaluate evidence on tryptophan (Trp) and its metabolites as proposed biomarkers for TB. Through specific keyword searches, we identified 170 relevant literature sources and included seven publications (from 2013 to 2023).

The pillars of comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation program for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients include physical exercise and good nutrition. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of pulmonary rehabilitation, which included physical exercise and chicken egg white supplementation, on the quality of life (QoL) and functional capacity among patients with stable COPD. The COPD patients were enrolled prospectively in this quasi-experimental study and completed a 12-week smartphone-guided home-based physical exercise program that comprised strength and resistance training three times per week for 30 minutes each session.

The mechanism of damage involves the production of excess free radicals that trigger oxidative stress in the skin. Determining the natural products that have high antioxidant activities as antiaging is important.

Therefore, physical exercise and good nutritional intake are the main foundations of a comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation program for COPD patients. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of chicken egg white supplementation on dyspnea degree and the incidence of exacerbations in stable COPD patients who perform physical exercise independently at home.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 1,336 Indonesians from the general population who had no previous diagnosis of diabetes. Utility score to represent HRQoL was measured using the EuroQol 5-dimension, while the risk for developing diabetes was determined using the Finnish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISC) instrument.
Indonesia's total number of HIV/AIDS cases is still high. Inadequate knowledge about the risk of HIV infection will influence HIV prevention and therapy. This study aimed to map the level of HIV-related knowledge among Indonesians living on six major islands in Indonesia and investigate the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics and HIV/AIDS knowledge.

PCE was synthesized using torch ginger (Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA diabetes risk score cannot directly be translated and applied in different populations, and its performance should be evaluated in the target population. This study aimed to translate the Finnish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISC) instrument and compare its performance with the modified version for detecting undiagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and dysglycaemia among the Indonesian adult population. Forward and backward translations were performed and followed by cultural adaptation.

Background: Despite a global decline in new HIV/AIDS cases in low-middle countries, cases are increasing in Indonesia. Low knowledge about the disease among the general population is one of the major factors responsible for this trend. Indonesia does not have a validated instrument to assess HIV/AIDS knowledge.

Antibody against thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor/TSHR (TRAb) is responsible for hyperthyroidism and is considered as a diagnostic marker for GD. Therefore, we developed a recombinant protein of human TSHR-169 (hTSHR-169), which was specifically recognized TRAb in the serum of GD patients and then compare the diagnostic performance between ELISA and dot blot of TRAb tests for their ability to diagnose GD.

The current study investigates how supervisors' engaging leadership, as perceived by their employees, increases employees' job outcomes at the individual and team level, as mediated by (team) work engagement. Job outcome indicators at the team level are team performance, team learning, and team innovation; and at the individual level, job performance, employee learning, and innovative work behavior. The novel concept of engaging leadership is presented as the specific type of leadership to foster (team) work engagement.
