Background: The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is rising at an alarming rate, making it a major global public health problem. The main pathophysiology of NAFLD is elevated de novo lipogenesis (DNL) in hepatocytes which leads to lipid accumulation. Because of their function in controlling DNL, sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) have been considered viable therapy targets for reduce lipid accumulation.

Introduction: Efficacious therapies are urgently required to tackle the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This trial aims to evaluate the effects of atorvastatin in comparison with standard care for adults hospitalized with COVID-19.
Methods: We conducted a randomized controlled clinical trial on adults hospitalized with COVID-19.
Purpose: Identification of critical genes which play pivotal roles in controlling tumor growth and survival will establish the basis for developing therapeutic targets. In this study, we focused on frequencies of EGFR, ErbB2 and MET gene amplification in gastric cancer patients to develop personalized medicine to improve the treatment.
Method: EGFR, ErbB2 and MET gene amplification, and mRNA expression were analyzed by the quantitative Real-Time PCR in paraffin-embedded samples from 115 patients with gastric cancer.
