Neonicotinoid insecticides have raised increasing concerns due to their toxic effects on aquatic invertebrates, potentially contributing to population declines and aquatic food web disruption. This study investigated the chronic toxicity of the first-generation neonicotinoid acetamiprid on Penaeus vannamei using physiological, biochemical, and transcriptomic approaches. After 28 days of exposure, significant reductions in survival rate, growth performance, and hepatosomatic index were observed, with a calculated 96 h LC of 60.

In real-world conditions, multiple pollutants coexist, making it insufficient to study a single pollutant's effects. Clothianidin, a widely present neonicotinoid insecticide, poses significant ecological risks due to its unique mechanism of action. Similarly, microplastics, another prevalent pollutant, have notable ecological impacts.

In real environments, multiple pollutants often coexist, so studying the impact of a single pollutant does not fully reflect the actual situation. Cycloxaprid, a new neonicotinoid pesticide, poses significant ecological risks due to its unique mechanism and widespread distribution in aquatic environments. Additionally, the ecological effects of microplastics, another common environmental pollutant, cannot be overlooked.

This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare perioperative and oncologic outcomes in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) treated with robotic-assisted surgery versus open laparotomy. The study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and cohort studies up to June 15, 2024, were identified using PubMed, EMBASE, and Google Scholar.

The developmental toxicity effects of neonicotinoid pesticides such as clothianidin have not been fully explored in agricultural applications. This is particularly noteworthy because such pesticides significantly impact the survival rates of invertebrates, with arthropod larvae being particularly vulnerable. This study aimed to address this research gap by specifically investigating the toxicological effects of clothianidin on the developmental stages of the larvae of the economically important aquaculture species Penaeus vannamei.

Cycloxaprid, a new neonicotinoid pesticide, poses ecological risks, particularly in aquatic environments, due to its unique action and environmental dispersal. This study investigated the ecotoxicological effects of various concentrations of cycloxaprid on Penaeus vannamei over 28 days. High cycloxaprid levels significantly altered shrimp physiology, as shown by changes in the hepatosomatic index and fattening.

Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of different plastic surgeries in the treatment of poor healing wound after posterior spinal internal fixation.

Methods: In this study, 16 patients with poor incision healing after posterior spinal internal fixation were retrospectively included, and dif-ferent plastic surgery treatment plans were determined according to the wound characteristics and defect condition. The measures included debridement, vacuum sealing drainage (VSD), and different tissue flaps according to the location and extent of the defect.

Article Synopsis
  • Eutrophication in China’s coastal waters is a significant environmental issue that needs effective assessment methods for pollution control and protection.
  • Recent "phase II" assessment methods have been successfully implemented to evaluate eutrophication in these regions, but they risk overestimating eutrophication due to small, impacted water bodies.
  • The study applied an area ratio method to the ASSETS framework in assessing Xiamen Bay's eutrophication in 2016, finding a moderate status influenced by pollution from the Jiulong River, emphasizing the need for pollution management during flood seasons.

Midfacial hypoplasia is a common maxillofacial deformity in patients with cleft lip and palate, which requires surgical treatment. However, trans-sutural distraction osteogenesis (TSDO) remains some disadvantages, including difficulty in accurate location of surgical path, prolonged operation time, and excess surgical bleeding. This study aimed to evaluate the application of an optical surgical navigation system (OSNS) developed for TSDO.

High-oriented Li-Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) films were grown on an InGaN light-emitting diode (LED) structures by immersing in an aqueous alkaline Al(3+)- and Li+-containing solution. The stand upward and adjacent Li-Al LDH platelet structure was formed on the LED structure as a textured film to increase the light extraction efficiency. The light output power of the LED structure with the Li-Al LDH platelet structure had a 31% enhancement compared with a conventional LED structure at 20 mA.
