Background: Lenvatinib plus pembrolizumab (LP) therapy has emerged as an effective treatment for patients with advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer. However, limited data are available regarding its outcomes in real-world settings. This study aimed to identify prognostic factors associated with the efficacy of LP therapy.

Following the termination of vaccination suspension in 2021 and subsequent proactive vaccination recommendation in 2022, it is crucial to promote catch-up vaccinations for those who missed their initial opportunity.
Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effect of video-based informational intervention and explore factors associated with the uptake of catch-up HPV vaccinations among unvaccinated young adult women in Japan.
Background: Symptomatic drug treatment is generally used to treat various side effects associated with paclitaxel-carboplatin (TC) or TC plus bevacizumab (TC+Bev). However, this can lead to increased adverse effects from additional drugs. Immersive virtual reality (iVR) reduces pain and anxiety.

Background: The value of conducting vaginal cytology surveillance after endometrial cancer (EC) surgery has not been fully established, yet in Japan it is still performed routinely in many institutions. We have retrospectively examined its diagnostic and prognostic values.
Methods: We studied 759 EC cases that underwent hysterectomy at our hospital in Osaka, Japan from January 2010 to December 2019.
Background: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of lower respiratory tract infections and bronchiolitis in infants. A recently introduced maternal RSV vaccine is highly effective in reducing severe illnesses and could play a key role in preventing RSV infections in infants. However, vaccine hesitancy remains a global issue, and the knowledge and attitude toward RSV vaccines among pregnant women during the post-marketing phase are unclear.

Objective: To assess the effect of obesity on the prevalence of asthma, obstetric outcomes and delivery outcomes in pregnant women with asthma.
Methods: A comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted up to 31 March 2024, using four public search engines. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines, both quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analysed.
The Japanese government suspended its proactive recommendation for routine HPV vaccination for nine years, from June 2013 to May 2022, due to concerns about unconfirmed reports of adverse events. This study represents the fifth in our ongoing series of surveys assessing Japanese obstetricians' and gynecologists' attitudes toward HPV vaccination, and the first survey conducted since the recommendation was reinstated. In January 2024, we distributed a questionnaire to 632 obstetricians and gynecologists affiliated with Osaka University Hospital.

Methods: Surveys were conducted at birthing facilities across Japan and with pregnant women attending Osaka and Keio University hospitals. To assess the feasibility of VV, we compared the self-measured blood pressure, fundal height, urinary test results, and fetal heart rate of pregnant women with those measured by healthcare providers.
Background This study aimed to assess a clinical relevance of three-dimensional occupational stress (job stressor score [A score], psychological and physical stress response score [B score], and social support for workers score [C score]) of the Brief Job Stress Questionnaire (BJSQ) in the national stress check program in Japan to irregular menstruation. Methods The present retrospective cohort study included 2,078 female employees aged 19-45 years who had both annual health checkups and the BJSQ between April 2019 and March 2022 in a national university in Japan. The outcome was self-reported irregular menstruation measured at annual health checkups until March 2023.

Importance: Although evaluation of geographic area inequities in vaccination is crucial to identify areas that need community-based interventions, knowledge of disparities in human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination uptake remains limited in Japan.
Objective: To investigate the association of female cumulative HPV vaccination uptake with neighborhood-based socioeconomic status and access indicators in Osaka City, Japan.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This population-based, cross-sectional study included HPV vaccination data for fiscal year (April 1 to March 31) 2013 to fiscal year 2022 provided by Osaka City.
In Japan, cancer screening is conducted under a variety of umbrellas, i.e., via population-based screening, occupational health checkups, insured medical care, and personal medical checkups.

Despite its potentially life-threatening nature, the absence of definitive preoperative diagnostic criteria for IMP complicates its early detection and management, especially in patients without known risk factors. Additionally, management becomes more challenging when there is an elevated risk of hemorrhage.

Pfizer's Abrysvo vaccine is highly effective in preventing severe lower respiratory tract illness in those at high risk from the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Japan, like other countries, is promoting RSV vaccination among pregnant women, but it needs to do better. However, Japan is enduring a state of broad vaccine hesitancy.

A 38-year-old woman, diagnosed with Marfan syndrome and implanted with a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) and taking aspirin and warfarin potassium, had a history of right adnexal oophorectomy via open surgery for a right ovarian hemorrhage at the age of 35 years. Thereafer, she had been treated with dienogest to suppress ovulation as much as possible.

Methods: Overall, 1687 patients with T1b cervical cancer who received concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) or chemotherapy as postoperative adjuvant therapy were retrospectively analyzed using the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology cancer registry program data from 2015 to 2016. After propensity score matching, overall survival (OS) was compared between 643 patients treated with CCRT and 643 patients treated with chemotherapy.
Aim: The purpose of this study was to examine the trend in human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rates in Japan before and after a policy change in 2022, involving resumption of active recommendation and start of catch-up vaccination.
Methods: From 2021 to 2023, a web-based questionnaire survey was administered to newly enrolled female college students in Yokohama, Japan. The questionnaire included items such as age, HPV vaccination status, HPV vaccine awareness, and awareness of catch-up vaccination.
Importance: The Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW) of Japan aggregates human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination data across Japan for each fiscal year (FY) by age at vaccination. Birth FY (BFY)-specific vaccination coverage remains unknown.
Objective: To calculate the BFY-specific vaccination coverage for each FY and the cumulative first-dose coverage for each BFY in Japan, to understand the generation-specific vaccination coverage, and to estimate the cumulative first-dose coverage of each BFY that would be achieved by FY 2028 vs World Health Organization (WHO) targets.
Precise vaccination data is essential to accurately estimate the effectiveness of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine against HPV-related cancers. In Japan, the number of subsidized HPV vaccinations can be tracked through registries, but the number of self-funded vaccinations has not been tracked. The number of individuals who chose to receive the vaccine at their own expense, despite being ineligible for public subsidies due to their age, is unknown and has been nominally considered to be zero.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFJapan has a particularly critical situation surrounding its collapsed HPV vaccination program for preventing HPV-caused cervical cancers, a problem exacerbated by the lack of a national immunization database. We have determined the year-to-year HPV vaccination uptake by Japanese females and analyzed by birth fiscal year (FY) the monthly number of people receiving initial HPV vaccination. Our analysis covers the period from the start of public subsidies in 2010 to September 2023, using data provided by local governments.
