Central sensitization (CS) is identified as a cause of pain in various musculoskeletal diseases, and breathing pattern disorders (BPDs) are reported to be correlated with chronic pain. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between CS and BPDs through regression analysis. A cross-sectional study was designed according to the strengthening the reporting of observational studies in epidemiology (STROBE) guidelines.

Background And Aims: Recent studies indicate that proactive therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) can improve clinical outcomes in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) treated with infliximab. Repetitive infliximab trough level (IFX TL) measurements for proactive TDM may increase patient inconvenience and medical costs. Therefore, we aimed to determine the optimal interval for TDM during infliximab maintenance therapy in patients with IBD.

: Oxazolidinones are novel antimicrobial agents used to combat bacterial infections, particularly multidrug-resistant strains. However, the synthesis of oxazolidinone derivatives, such as linezolid, often involves the use of 3,4-difluoronitrobenzene (DFNB) as an initiator. Despite its effectiveness, residual DFNB in drug products raises significant health concerns due to its structural similarity to toxic and carcinogenic nitrobenzenes.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are promising agents for treating antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. Although discovering novel AMPs is crucial for combating multidrug-resistant bacteria and biofilm-related infections, their clinical potential relies on precise, real-time evaluation of efficacy, toxicity, and mechanisms. Optical diffraction tomography (ODT), a label-free imaging technology, enables real-time visualization of bacterial morphological changes, membrane damage, and biofilm formation over time.

Levocetirizine is one of the widely used antihistamines and has the potential to form -nitrosopiperazine (NPZ) during drug synthesis, manufacturing, or storage. NPZ classified as a nitrosamine is a genotoxic impurity with carcinogenic properties. Controlling the presence of NPZ in the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and drug products is crucial with levels ideally maintained below 80 ppm.

Natural killer (NK) cells are an attractive cell source in cancer immunotherapy due to their potent antitumor ability and promising safety for allogenic applications. However, the clinical outcome of NK cell therapy has been limited due to poor persistence and loss of activity in the cytokine-deficient tumor microenvironment. Benefits from exogenous administration of soluble interleukin-2 (IL-2) to stimulate the activity of NK cells have not been significant due to cytokine consumption and activation of other immune cells, compromising both efficacy and safety.

As vehicles are connected to the Internet, various services can be provided to users. However, if the requests of vehicle users are concentrated on the remote server, the transmission delay increases, and there is a high possibility that the delay constraint cannot be satisfied. To solve this problem, caching can be performed at a closer proximity to the user which in turn would reduce the latency by distributing requests.

Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD), also known as non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis, is a multi-systemic disease with unclear pathogenesis. Based on a small number of case studies, pegylated interferon-α (PEG-IFN-α) has been used as the front-line treatment option. However, there are limited data regarding administration of ropegylated-interferon α-2b (ROPEG-IFN-α 2b) for ECD patients.

Vehicular edge computing (VEC) is a promising technology for supporting computation-intensive vehicular applications with low latency at the network edges. Vehicles offload their tasks to VEC servers (VECSs) to improve the quality of service (QoS) of the applications. However, the high density of vehicles and VECSs and the mobility of vehicles increase channel interference and deteriorate the channel condition, resulting in increased power consumption and latency.

Article Synopsis
  • Interleukin-15 (IL-15) is a special protein that helps the immune system fight infections and can also be used to treat cancer.
  • In this study, healthy dogs received a new form of IL-15 for 8 days to see if it was safe and how it affected their immune system.
  • The treatment was safe with no serious side effects, and it helped activate important immune cells that can fight cancer in dogs.

Article Synopsis
  • Canine natural killer (NK) cells are special immune cells in dogs that don’t belong to the usual B or T lymphocyte groups but share some traits with T lymphocytes.
  • A study tested the safety of these NK cells by injecting them into mice and comparing results with mice injected with regular dog blood cells.
  • The results showed that while mice injected with regular dog blood cells got very sick and died, the mice injected with NK cells stayed healthy and survived, suggesting NK cells are safe for treating dog cancer.

Increased data traffic resulting from the increase in the deployment of connected vehicles has become relevant in vehicular social networks (VSNs). To provide efficient communication between connected vehicles, researchers have studied device-to-device (D2D) communication. D2D communication not only reduces the energy consumption and loads of the system but also increases the system capacity by reusing cellular resources.

In 5G networks, heterogeneous cloud radio access network (H-CRAN) is considered a promising future architecture to minimize energy consumption and efficiently allocate resources. However, with the increase in the number of users, studies are performed to overcome the energy consumption problems. In this study, we propose a power control algorithm with mobility prediction to provide a high-energy efficiency for 5G H-CRAN.

Power grids deal with the business of generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power. Current systems monitor basic electrical quantities such as voltage and current from major pole transformers using their temperature. We improve the current systems in order to gather and deliver the information of power qualities such as harmonics, voltage sags, and voltage swells.

A microgrid is composed of distributed power generation systems (DGs), distributed energy storage devices (DSs), and loads. To maintain a specific frequency in the islanded mode as an important requirement, the control of DGs' output and charge action of DSs are used in supply surplus conditions and load-shedding and discharge action of DSs are used in supply shortage conditions. Recently, multiagent systems for autonomous microgrid operation have been studied.

Objectives: There is an increasing demand for public dental services in Australia, with many community dental clinics unable to meet this demand because of an inadequate number of dentists in the workforce. The aim of this study was to identify factors contributing to the recruitment and retention of dentists in the public sector.

Methods: A postal questionnaire survey of 180 dentists (response rate 75.
