: spp. represent the most prevalent Gram-positive organisms in children with malignancies or undergoing haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), contributing to significant morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to assess the epidemiology, risk factors, treatment strategies, and outcomes of staphylococcal infections (SIs) in paediatric haemato-oncology (PHO) and HCT patients in Poland over a 12-year period.

The aim of this study was to describe the epidemiology, clinical characteristics, antimicrobial susceptibility pattern and outcome of infections in pediatric cancer patients and hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients in Poland. : A total of 125 episodes of species infections were reported in patients <18 years treated in Polish pediatric hematology and oncology centers over a period from 2012 to 2023.

The challenge is tailoring the treatment to the individual patient to avoid not only overtreatment and treatment-related sequelae but also undertreatment. This study assessed the impact of this rapid increase in clinical need on the Polish system of pediatric cancer care.
Methods: This multicenter longitudinal approach was performed among all 19 Polish Pediatric Oncology Centers (PPOCs).
Importance: The current standard-of-care salvage therapy in relapsed/refractory classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) includes consolidation high-dose chemotherapy (HDCT)/autologous stem cell transplant (aSCT).
Objective: To investigate whether presalvage risk factors and fludeoxyglucose-18 (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) response to reinduction chemotherapy can guide escalation or de-escalation between HDCT/aSCT or transplant-free consolidation with radiotherapy to minimize toxic effects while maintaining high cure rates.
Design, Setting, And Participants: EuroNet-PHL-R1 was a nonrandomized clinical trial that enrolled patients younger than 18 years with first relapsed/refractory cHL across 68 sites in 13 countries in Europe between January 2007 and January 2013.
Background: Congenital thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (cTTP) is an ultrarare microvascular disease caused by the deficiency of the metalloprotease ADAMTS13 (a disintegrin and metalloprotease with thrombospondin motifs 13). Approximately half of all cases remain undiagnosed until a triggering event in adulthood; therefore, the prevalence rates may be underestimated. The current standard of care is based on regular transfusions of fresh frozen plasma, which often lead to allergic reactions in patients.

Achieving a sufficient neutrophil count is essential for the elimination of pathogens. Granulocyte concentrate (GC) can be a treatment option for neutropenic patients with severe infections.

Despite this, some patients still die before starting treatment or in an early phase of therapy before achieving remission. The study analysed the frequency, clinical features and risk factors for early deaths (ED) and treatment related deaths (TRD) of children and adolescents with AML.

The aim of the study was to conduct a microbiological and clinical analysis of infections in children with malignancies or undergoing hematopoietic cell transplantation in Poland. We conducted a retrospective, multicenter study including children and adolescents under 19 years old treated between 2012 and 2021.

Despite the success of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, immunocompromised patients remain at increased risk for severe coronavirus disease (COVID-19), rendering this group of population a high priority for additional prevention and treatment options. Patients And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 220 AML patients aged 0-18 years treated in pediatric oncologic centers in Poland from 2015 to 2022. The evaluated group included 31 infants (below 1 year), 91 younger children (1-9.
Background/aim: The role of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs; anti-PD1) in the treatment of childhood cancers is still evolving. The aim of this nationwide retrospective study was to assess the safety and effectiveness of ICIs used in a group of 42 patients, with a median age of 13.6 years, with various types of advanced malignancies treated in pediatric oncology centers in Poland between 2015 and 2023.

Some centres proposed an alternative approach with induction chemotherapy followed by anti-GD2 immunotherapy, without MAT+ASCT.
Objective: The aim of this systematic literature review was to compare survival outcomes in patients with HRNB treated with or without MAT+ASCT and with or without subsequent anti-GD2 immunotherapy.

Background: Gemtuzumab ozogamicin (GO), one of the first targeted drugs used in oncology, consists of an anti-cluster of differentiation 33 (CD33) monoclonal antibody bound to a derivative of cytotoxic calicheamicin. After the drug withdrawn in 2010 due to a significantly higher rate of early deaths, GO regained approval in 2017 for the treatment of newly diagnosed, refractory, or relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in adults and children over 15 years of age. The objective of the study was a retrospective analysis of clinical characteristics, treatment outcomes, and GO toxicity profile in children with primary refractory or relapsed (R/R) AML treated in Poland from 2008 to 2022.

The aim of the study was to analyze the incidence and mortality rates among pediatric patients with ALL who were treated in 17 Polish pediatric hematology centers in 2020-2021 during the pandemic. Additionally, we compared these results with those of our previous study, which we conducted in the years 2012-2017.

Dinutuximab beta is approved for the maintenance treatment of patients with high-risk neuroblastoma (HR-NB), including patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) disease. However, the data on its use in real-world clinical practice is limited. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical records of 54 patients with HR-NB who received maintenance therapy with dinutuximab beta in first-line (37 patients) or R/R settings (17 patients) at three centers in Poland.

The anti-disialoganglioside (GD2) monoclonal antibody dinutuximab beta is approved for the maintenance treatment of high-risk neuroblastoma. Dinutuximab beta combined with different chemotherapy regimens is being investigated in various clinical settings. We conducted a retrospective clinical chart review of 25 patients with relapsed/refractory neuroblastoma who had failed ≥1 second-line therapy and received compassionate use treatment with dinutuximab beta long-term infusion combined with the induction chemotherapy regimens N5 (cisplatin, etoposide, vindesine) and N6 (vincristine, dacarbazine, ifosfamide, doxorubicin) recommended by the German Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Group [GPOH] guidelines.

Venetoclax, the best established BH3-mimetic, is a practice-changing proapoptotic drug in blood cancers in adults. In paediatrics the data are fewer but exciting results were recently presented in relapsed or refractory leukaemias demonstrating significant clinical activity. Importantly, the in-terventions could be potentially molecularly guided as vulnerabilities to BH3-mimetics were re-ported.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of 40 stage 3 patients with NBL without MYCN amplification was performed. The prognostic value of age at diagnosis (under 18 vs over 18 months), International Neuroblastoma Pathology Classification (INPC) diagnostic category and presence of segmental or numerical chromosomes aberrations were evaluated, as well as biochemical markers.
