Purpose: Cryotherapy is an effective mucositis intervention for selected chemotherapy regimens, but reliance on ice chips has limited its applicability. Our objective was to assess the efficacy and tolerability of a reusable, self-contained, device as an alternative delivery mode.

Methods: A total of 164 patients randomized 2:1 received the device (Chemo Mouthpiece; CMP]) + best supportive care (BSC) (arm A) or BSC only (control, arm B), across 16 study sites.

Pazopanib is US FDA approved for the treatment of advanced soft tissue sarcomas. All patients with this disease ultimately develop resistance to therapy. Mechanisms of resistance include activation of the mTOR, histone deacetylase (HDAC), MAPK, and ERBB4 pathways.

Idiosyncratic Reaction with Cytokine Storm Associated with Oxaliplatin.

Oxaliplatin or irinotecan with 5-fluorouracil form the chemotherapy backbone of any systemic treatment of colorectal cancer. We successfully treated an idiosyncratic reaction to oxaliplatin consisting of severe chills, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever in a patient with metastatic colon cancer.
