Background: The theophylline toxidrome presents with multisystemic involvement that includes cardiovascular, neurologic, metabolic, musculoskeletal, and gastrointestinal manifestations. Considering such a varied spectrum of presentations, it is often difficult to ascertain the diagnosis of this particular toxidrome. Review of home medications is an important step when working with a patient presenting as a toxidrome.

The clinical manifestations of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) are widespread, ranging from asymptomatic to critical illness with significant morbidity and mortality. It is widely known that individuals who have viral respiratory infections are more likely to develop bacterial infections. Throughout the pandemic, despite the fact that COVID-19 was thought to be the primary cause of millions of deaths, bacterial coinfections, superinfections, and other secondary complications played a significant role in the increased mortality rate.
