: The combined use of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is employed for the treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC). To achieve optimal cytoreduction, there may be a need for extensive resection and subsequent reconstruction of urologic structures. This study was designed to evaluate the outcomes of urinary tract resection or repair performed in CRS/HIPEC in terms of operative and oncological outcomes.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a prevalent and lethal malignancy influenced by genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors, with diverse molecular subtypes and varying incidence rates across different populations. The anatomical, histological, morphological, and genetic differences between the right and left colons contribute to disparities in tumor incidence, clinical presentation, prognosis, and therapeutic responses, depending on the tumor's localization. We aimed to investigate the expression patterns of the CMTM3 and SSTR2 genes both of which are hypermethylated and potentially involved in the development and progression of colorectal tumors in tumors originating from the right and left colon.

Background: Consuming only low-fiber food on the day before the procedure is recommended as standard practice for bowel cleansing in patients using polyethylene glycol (PEG). However, there have been few studies to date investigating the optimal dietary regimen for patients using the more cost-effective Sennoside A+B calcium before colonoscopy. The present study compares the quality of bowel preparation of patients following a clear diet and those following a low-fiber diet on the day before colonoscopy among patients using Sennoside A+B calcium.

Methods: In this prospective, double-blind trial, 80 adults scheduled for THA under spinal anesthesia were randomized to receive either an anterior QLB (n = 40) with 30 mL of 0.25% bupivacaine or a combined PENG + LFCN block (n = 40) using 25 mL of 0.
Total extraperitoneal (TEP) hernia repair is a minimally invasive method for the treatment of inguinal hernia. In this study, one group with balloon dissection and mesh fixation was compared with another group that underwent telescopic dissection without mesh fixation. This study aims to compare both methods in terms of effectiveness, complications, pain scores, and clinical outcomes.

Additionally, we aimed to investigate factors associated with wound healing and recurrence after PSD surgery.
Patients And Methods: This study included patients diagnosed with PSD between February 2019, and September 2022.
Objective: The purpose of this research was to identify the specific prejudices that women in general surgery in Türkiye have to face in their workplace and academic careers. This was achieved by gathering the opinions of both genders on these issues and raising awareness of gender bias to promote a more inclusive environment for future generations of surgeons.
Material And Methods: A total of 202 people, 99 male and 103 female surgeons, participated in the survey.
Background: This study aimed to investigate the causes of failure after the ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) procedure for ulcerative colitis (UC) and to determine the independent risk factors affecting their quality of life.
Methods: This multi-center cohort study included all UC patients who underwent IPAA at nine referral centers in Türkiye from 2010 to 2018. Centers were categorized as high-volume (≥10 cases/year) or low-volume (<10 cases/year).
Background: Incisional hernia is frequently observed after open colorectal cancer surgery, and should be considered a serious short- and long-term health issue. The present study evaluated the efficacy of small-bite abdominal closure in reducing the incidence of incisional hernia in this patient group.
Methods: An RCT was conducted between June 2019 and June 2022.

Background: In this study, we aimed to examine the clinical, radiological, histopathological, immunohistochemical, and prognostic features of a case series undergoing surgery for non-Hodgkin's primary colon lymphoma (NHL).
Methods: The data of six patients diagnosed with NHL who were operated on in our clinic between January 2010 and January 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. NHL was detected in six of the patients operated on for colon tumors.
Objectives: Despite being routinely used before elective colorectal surgery in most surgical clinics, mechanical bowel preparation (MBP) remains controversial. This study aimed to investigate postoperative complications and outcomes of right, left, or rectosigmoid resection without MBP.
Material And Methods: Patients who underwent elective colorectal surgery without mechanical bowel preparation and oral antibiotics between January 2011 and December 2021 were included in the study.

Severity scoring systems are used widely to predict prognosis in managing various diseases and to tailor the treatment of patients in a personalized way, not in a general concept, by making a risk assessment. This study examines the importance of the Temperature-Neutrophils-Multiple Organ Failure (TNM) scoring system, a new scoring system, in evaluating the prognosis in patients with Fournier gangrene (FG). Patients who were operated on with the diagnosis of FG in our clinic between 2012 and 2022 were analyzed with a single-center cross-sectional retrospective study design.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the management strategy, factors associated with operative morbidity and long-term postoperative outcomes in a large group of patients undergoing surgery for presacral tumours.
Method: This study was designed as a multicentre retrospective cohort study.
Background: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the ratio of negative lymph nodes (NLN) number to the number of metastatic lymph nodes (MLN) and the harvested lymph nodes (HLN) number ratio survival rate and compare its prognostic value.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 207 stage III colon cancer patients between 2010 and 2018 at a single center. NLN/MLN and NLN/HLN cut-off values were determined with the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve according to 5-year survival.
Background: Sarcopenia and HALP (Hemoglobin, Albumin, Lymphocyte, and Platelet) scores are factors commonly associated with postoperative outcomes used in cancer patients. This study aims to evaluate the effect of these two prognostic factors on postoperative outcomes in operated pancreatic cancer patients and their correlation with each other.
Methods: The study is a single-center, retrospective study conducted with 179 patients diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma after pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) between January 2012 and January 2022.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the usage status of laparoscopic procedures in general surgical practice in Türkiye, which is a sample of middle-income countries.
Material And Methods: The questionnaire was sent to general surgeons, gastrointestinal surgeons, and surgical oncologists who have completed their residency training and are actively working in university, public or private hospitals. Demographic data, laparoscopy training and the period of education, the rate of laparoscopy use, the type and volume of laparoscopic surgical procedures, their views on the advantages and disadvantages of laparoscopic surgery, and the reasons for preferring laparoscopy were determined with a 30-item questionnaire.
Background: Preoperative sarcopenia is an essential factor that negatively affects postoperative results. The effect of preoperative sarcopenia on postoperative complications and prognosis in patients treated for Fournier's gangrene (FG) is controversial. This retrospective cohort study analyzed the effect of FG to evaluate the effect of preoperative sarcopenia on postoperative complications and prognosis in patients who were operated on.

EOCRC has a certain hereditary predisposition and distinct clinicopathological and molecular features compared to the traditional average-onset of colorectal cancer (AOCRC). As previous publications have shown, EOCRC has a more advanced TNM stage and a more aggressive tumor histopathology.

Potential post-operative intensive care need leads to delays in the timing of surgery due to the referral of patients to better equipped hospitals as well as the inability to arrange a reserved intensive care bed. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether pre-op-erative neutrophillymphocyte ratio (NLR) has predictive value in terms of post-operative intensive care need in geriatric patients who underwent surgery following pertrochanteric fractures.
