Background: Mandibular defects resulting from trauma, tumors, or congenital anomalies present a significant challenge in craniofacial reconstruction. Bone grafting, including autografts and allografts, is a widely used approach to repair such defects. Autografts, harvested from the patient's own body, are considered the gold standard due to their osteogenic, osteoconductive, and osteoinductive properties.

Background: One important aspect affecting dental implants' long-term success is peri-implant bone loss. Because smoking has a negative impact on osseointegration and healing, it has been recognized as a risk factor that might hasten peri-implant bone resorption.

Materials And Methods: One hundred patients in need of single dental implants were recruited, fifty of whom were smokers and fifty of whom were not.

Background: Implant abutment materials play a crucial role in influencing peri-implant soft tissue integration and long-term implant success. Gingival fibroblast attachment to abutment surfaces is a key factor in establishing a stable epithelial seal and reducing the risk of peri-implantitis.

Materials And Methods: This study analyzed the attachment of gingival fibroblasts on three commonly used implant abutment materials: titanium (Ti), zirconia (Zr), and polyetheretherketone (PEEK).

Article Synopsis
  • The research investigates how oxidation heat treatment (OHT) and dual opaquing techniques affect the bond strength between metal and ceramic in dental materials.
  • Eighty samples were created, divided into two main groups based on oxidation treatment, and further categorized by single or double layers of opaque porcelain, followed by flexural strength testing.
  • Results showed that the combination of OHT and double layering (group A2) resulted in the highest bond strength, highlighting the significance of these techniques in enhancing ceramo-metal restorations.
