The methylotrophic yeast belongs to the group of homothallic fungi that are able to spontaneously change their mating type by inversion of chromosomal DNA in the MAT locus region. As a result, natural and genetically engineered cultures of these yeasts typically contain a mixture of sexually dimorphic cells that are prone to self-diploidisation and spore formation accompanied by genetic rearrangements. These characteristics pose a significant challenge to the development of genetically stable producers for industrial use.

Introduction: It has been recognized that capripoxvirus infections have a strong cutaneous tropism with the manifestation of skin lesions in the form of nodules and scabs in the respective hosts, followed by necrosis and sloughing off. Considering that the skin microbiota is a complex community of commensal bacteria, fungi and viruses that are influenced by infections leading to pathological states, there is no evidence on how the skin microbiome is affected during capripoxvirus pathogenesis.

Kombucha tea was made by the fermentation of SCOBY culture of green tea broth with the addition of algae extract, lichen extract and their mixture. The genome of the moderately haloalkaliphilic diazotrophic anoxygenic phototrophic bacterium A-36s isolated from an alkaline lake was analyzed and compared to the genomes of the closest species A-20s and DSM 11289. The genomic features of three organisms are quite similar, reflecting their ecological and physiological role of facultative photoheterotrophs. 9 Russian grape varieties and the European variety Muscat Hamburg were sequenced and genotyped using 527 SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) with high minor allele frequency for the first time. The data were coupled with previously identified genotypes of 783 varieties and subjected to parentage and population analysis. As a result, contrary to the historical and ampelographic data published in many sources from 1800 to 2012, only two of the nine Russian varieties (Pukhlyakovskiy Belyi and Sibirkovyi) were related to foreign ones and were obviously imported from Europe to the Russian Empire.

Pockmarks are important "pumps", which are believed to play a significant role in the global methane cycling and harboring a unique assemblage of very diverse prokaryotes. This study reports the results of massive sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene V4 hypervariable regions for the samples from thirteen pockmark horizons (the Baltic Sea) collected at depths from 0 to 280 cm below seafloor (cmbsf) and the rates of microbially mediated anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) and sulfate reduction (SR). Altogether, 76 bacterial and 12 archaeal phyla were identified, 23 of which were candidate divisions.

Our previous research of water and sediments from one of the surface acidic streams showed a high proportion of archaea in the total microbial community.
