Background And Aims: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients with Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) are at increased risk of adverse outcomes. Data on fidaxomicin use in IBD remain scarce. We assessed the effectiveness and safety of fidaxomicin for CDI and its impact on IBD outcomes in a large international cohort.

Ischemic ulcers do not significantly impact endoscopic recurrence score in Crohn's disease: A multicenter comparative study after right-side colectomy.

Background: Postoperative recurrence (POR) occurs in up to 70% of patients with Crohn's disease (CD). The Rutgeerts score (RS) system may overestimate the prevalence of "real" anastomotic recurrence. Hence, we aimed to compare the prevalence of anastomotic POR in CD and the presence of ulcers at anastomotic sites in patients with right-side resection for colonic cancer (CC).

The plant cell wall is a plastic structure of variable composition that constitutes the first line of defence against environmental challenges. Lodging and drought are two stressful conditions that severely impact maize yield. In a previous work, we characterised the cell walls of two maize inbreds, EA2024 (susceptible) and B73 (resistant) to stalk lodging.

Expression strategies for the efficient synthesis of antimicrobial peptides in plastids.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) kill microbes or inhibit their growth and are promising next-generation antibiotics. Harnessing their full potential as antimicrobial agents will require methods for cost-effective large-scale production and purification. Here, we explore the possibility to exploit the high protein synthesis capacity of the chloroplast to produce AMPs in plants.

Improving the diagnostic approach to celiac disease: Experience from a regional network.
