Background And Aim: Celiac disease (CeD) is increasingly diagnosed but significant disparities exist in awareness, practices, resources, and legislation worldwide. We conducted a global online survey with CeD experts to assess this disparity internationally.

Methods: A 55 questions survey encompassing nine domains relevant to CeD care (awareness, gluten-free [GF] foods availability/cost/quality, GF labeling, CeD dietician availability, insurance for CeD patients, medical training, research funding, patient support groups, and unmet needs) was generated and sent to CeD experts worldwide electronically.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of intravenous albumin infusions in patients with acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) who were not responding to standard steroids.
  • The trial involved 61 patients, who were divided into two groups: one receiving albumin with standard care and exclusive enteral nutrition, and the other receiving only standard care and nutrition.
  • Results showed no significant difference in steroid response, need for colectomy, or adverse events between the two groups, indicating that albumin infusion did not provide additional benefits for ASUC patients.

Article Synopsis
  • - Gluten-free (GF) food products in India are, on average, 232% more expensive than gluten-containing (GC) products, making long-term consumption financially challenging for patients with celiac disease.
  • - While the energy content of GF products is generally similar to GC counterparts, GF pasta, macaroni, and flours have significantly lower protein and dietary fiber content.
  • - Many GF items, including breads and snacks, are higher in total fats, trans-fats, and sodium compared to GC products, highlighting a need for strategies to improve their nutritional quality and affordability.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate reproductive functions in female patients with celiac disease (CeD), which are often overlooked.
  • It compared 288 female patients with CeD to 586 age-matched healthy controls using a detailed questionnaire about reproductive health.
  • Results showed that women with CeD experienced higher ages at menarche, abnormal menstrual patterns, delayed conception, infertility, and poorer pregnancy outcomes compared to controls, affecting about three-fourths of the CeD patients.

Background And Aim: While European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition advocates a no-biopsy pathway for the diagnosis of celiac disease (CeD) in children if IgA anti-tissue transglutaminase antibody (anti-tTG ab) titer is ≥10-fold upper limit of normal (ULN) and have a positive IgA anti-endomysial antibody (EMA); the data for anti-tTG Ab titer-based diagnosis of CeD in adults is still emerging. We planned to validate if IgA anti-tTG Ab titer ≥10-fold predicts villous abnormalities of modified Marsh grade ≥2 in Asian adult patients with CeD.

Methods: We recruited 937 adult patients with positive anti-tTG Ab from two databases, including AIIMS Celiac Clinic and Indian National Biorepository.

Objectives: It is challenging to make diagnosis of non-celiac gluten sensitivity/non-celiac wheat sensitivity (NCGS/NCWS) in clinical practice, since there is no biomarker and diagnosis is based on response to gluten-free-diet (GFD). We used anti-gliadin antibody (AGA) for screening patients with IBS for gluten-sensitivity.

Methods: 492 Adult-patients with IBS underwent screening for celiac disease and gluten-sensitivity using IgA anti-tissue transglutaminase antibody and IgA-AGA and IgG-AGA, respectively.

Background And Aim: Celiac disease (CeD) has now become a global disease with a worldwide prevalence of 0.67%. Despite being a common disease, CeD is often not diagnosed and there is a significant delay in its diagnosis.

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the commonest type of liver disease worldwide. We aimed to assess the incidence and predictors of liver-related events (LREs) and mortality in NAFLD patients.

Methods: NAFLD patients (n = 957) evaluated between January 2000 and November 2021 were included.

Background/objective: There is a paucity of data on the management of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding in patients with Coronavirus disease -2019 (COVID-19) amid concerns about the risk of transmission during endoscopic procedures. We aimed to study the outcomes of conservative treatment for GI bleeding in patients with COVID-19.

Methods: In this retrospective analysis, 24 of 1342 (1.
