A multivariate nutritional analysis indicated that the consumption of erucic acid-rich food, a fatty acid (FA) found primarily in rapeseed and mustard oil, was positively correlated with higher counts of lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Furthermore, we showed N6.2, as well as other species of LAB tested from the former genus, were able to efficiently use erucic acid (EA) as the source of FA.

A previous double-blind, randomized clinical trial of 42 healthy individuals conducted with N6.2 found that the probiotic's mechanistic tryptophan pathway was significantly modified when the data was stratified based on the individuals' lactic acid bacteria (LAB) stool content. These results suggest that confounding factors such as dietary intake which impact stool LAB content may affect the response to the probiotic treatment.

Feeding preterm infants mother's own milk (MOM) lowers rates of sepsis, decreases necrotizing enterocolitis, and shortens hospital stay. In the absence of freshly expressed MOM, frozen MOM (FMOM) is provided. When MOM is unavailable, preterm infants are often fed pasteurized donor human milk (DHM), rendering it devoid of beneficial bacteria.

Immunocompromised patients are at risk for infections due to above-ceiling activities in hospitals. Mobile dust-containment carts are available as environmental controls, but no published data support their efficacy. Using microbial air sampling and particle counts, we provide evidence of reduced risk of fungal exposure during open ceiling activities.
