Background: Neuroanatomical variation in individuals with bipolar disorder (BD) has been previously described in observational studies. However, the causal dynamics of these relationships remain unexplored.
Methods: We performed Mendelian Randomization of 297 structural and functional neuroimaging phenotypes from the UK Biobank and BD using GWAS summary statistics.

Dose-dependent analysis was carried out on selected feed additives using a meta-analysis approach to determine effectiveness in live subjects or potential efficacy in live animal trials with particular attention given to enteric gas, volatile fatty acid concentrations, and rumen microbial counts. All meta-analysis involving additives GO, nitrates, LAB, CHI, EOs, and 3-NOP revealed a reduction in methane production, while individual studies for AN and ASP displayed ruminal bacterial community improvement and a reduction in enteric CH.

Background And Aims: Besides the crucial role in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS), mechanical thrombectomy represents a unique opportunity for researchers to study the retrieved clots, with the possibility of unveiling biological patterns linked to stroke pathophysiology and etiology. We aimed to develop a shotgun proteomic approach to study and compare the proteome of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) cardioembolic and large artery atherosclerotic (LAA) clots.
Methods: We used 16 cardioembolic and 15 LAA FFPE thrombi from 31 AIS patients.

Beta-galactosidase is an enzyme administered as a digestive supplement to treat lactose intolerance, a genetic condition prevalent in most world regions. The gene encoding an acid-stable beta-galactosidase potentially suited for use as a digestive supplement was cloned from Aspergillus niger van Tiegh, sequenced and expressed in Pichia pastoris. The purified recombinant protein exhibited kinetic properties similar to those of the native enzyme and thus was also competitively inhibited by its product, galactose, at application-relevant concentrations.
