Surgical Experiences of Patients From the Circumpolar North: A Scoping Review.

Background: The Circumpolar North is an expansive region that includes the northernmost parts of the Earth, extending across the Arctic and Subarctic zones. This area, characterized by its geographical remoteness, harsh climate, limited healthcare infrastructure, and diverse patient population, creates unique challenges for the provision and delivery of surgical care. Despite existing research in this field, there is a lack of comprehensive reviews summarizing patients' distinct experiences when accessing surgical care.

A Digital Tool to Improve Family Engagement in Acute Care: The NGAGE Randomized Pilot Feasibility Trial.

Background: Engaging families in care is an important aspect of healthcare delivery. Our interdisciplinary team designed the NGAGE (for "family eNGAGEment") tool to empower family members to increase their engagement in patient care. The objective of this study was to assess the feasibility of use of the NGAGE tool.

Aesthetic Submandibular Gland Resection: A Review of Complication Incidence and Prevention.

Achieving optimal neck contour during facial rejuvenation may require addressing the submandibular glands, as supraplatysmal fat removal alone is insufficient for many patients, particularly those with fuller necks. The purpose of this study is to review the rate of complications associated with removal and techniques to improve safety. A comprehensive search was conducted to identify literature on complications associated with submandibular gland removal in the context of facial rejuvenation.

Unexpected Finding of an Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor of the Heart Causing Pulmonary Artery Obstruction in an Asymptomatic Toddler.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) of the heart is a very rare tumor, constituting less than 5% of primary heart tumors. This case report describes the unexpected finding of IMT of the heart causing pulmonary artery obstruction in an asymptomatic toddler.
