Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a prevalent progressive age-related disorder in men, yet its etiopathophysiology remains poorly understood. Current treatments like finasteride (Fin) have limited long-term efficacy, necessitating alternative therapies. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), a safe antimalarial agent, possesses anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antiproliferative activities, however, its therapeutic effect in BPH has not been investigated.

Accumulated evidence supported the crucial role of a tiny population of cells within the tumor called cancer stem cells (CSCs) in cancer origination, and proliferation. Additionally, these cells are distinguished by their self-renewal, differentiation, and therapeutic resistance capabilities. Interestingly, many studies recorded dysregulation of different types of noncoding RNAs, such as microRNA (miRNA) and long non-coding RNA (LncRNA), in cancer cells as well as CSCs.

Favipiravir (FAV), an RNA-dependent RNA polymerases inhibitor, shared structural similarity with hTERT and thus assumed to have cytotoxic effect on cancer cells, in addition to its prophylactic effect to immunocompromised cancer patients. Nanoemulsion (NE) is a potential tumor cells targeting delivery system, thereby enhancing therapeutic efficacy at the intended site, mitigating systemic toxicity, and overcoming multidrug resistance.

While circRNAs and miRNAs have recently been identified as promising biomarkers for disease diagnosis, their specific expression patterns, and clinical implications in SLE are not yet fully understood.
Aim Of The Work: The aim of the present study was to determine the role of a panel of noncoding-RNAs specifically circRNAs (circ-TubD1, circ-CDC27, and circ-Med14), along with miRNA (rno-miR-146a-5p) and mRNA (TRAF6), as novel minimally invasive diagnostic biomarkers for experimentally induced SLE.
Tamoxifen (TAM) is a key player in estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer (BC); however, ∼30% of patients experience relapse and a lower survival rate due to TAM resistance. TAM resistance was related to the over expression of SOX-2 gene, which is regulated by the E2F3 transcription factor in the Wnt signaling pathway. It was suggested that SOX-2 overexpression was suppressed by dexamethasone (DEX), a glucocorticoid commonly prescribed to BC patients.

The aim of the present study was the formulation of fast-dissolving freeze-dried sublingual tablets (FFSTs) to increase BG dissolution, avoid first-pass metabolism, and overcome swallowing difficulties. FFSTs were prepared following a 2 factorial design.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTamoxifen (TAM) is one of the most successful treatments for breast cancer; however, TAM resistance continues to be a significant barrier. TAM resistance has been reported to be associated with increased expression of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT). This enzyme shares structural similarity with RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) enzyme of RNA viruses, suggesting that RdRp inhibitors may also inhibit hTERT.

This study was designed to determine the diagnostic and prognostic utility of the circulating long miscellaneous RNAs; LINC01419, AK021443, and AF070632 in HCV-related HCC patients. Real-time PCR was used to measure their relative expression levels in the plasma of 194 HCV patients, 120 HCV-related HCC patients and 120 healthy controls.

However, there are currently no reliable biomarkers for renal impairment diagnosis, prognosis, or staging in DKD patients. CircRNAs and microRNAs have emerged as noninvasive and efficient biomarkers.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAccumulating evidence has shown an abnormal expression of several non-coding RNAs in ovarian tissues which might be closely linked with the pathogenesis of PCOS. The aim of this study was to identify competing endogenous (ce) RNA network: long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), microRNA (miRNA) and their target genes: androgen receptor (AR), follistatin (FST) and insulin receptor substrate-2 (IRS-2), which are relevant to PCOS, to underline the molecular pathogenesis of PCOS and assist in early diagnosis and treatment. Bioinformatic analysis was performed to retrieve a ceRNA network: [lncRNA (NEAT1 and MALAT1) - miRNA (miR-30a-5p and miR-30d-5p) - mRNA (AR, FST and IRS-2)] linked to PCOS.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death globally. Chemoprevention is the most effective technique for reducing HCC incidence. Thymoquinone (TQ), the main bioactive constituent of Nigella sativa, exhibits anti-inflammatory and antineoplastic activities against various cancers.

The major risk factor for HCC is hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection which is a main burden in Egypt. The epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is a stem cell marker involved in the tumorigenesis and progression of many malignancies, including HCC.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major health concern in Egypt owing to the high prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. HCC incidence is characterized by obvious male predominance, yet the molecular mechanisms behind this gender bias are still unidentified. Functional variations in X-linked genes have more impact on males than females.
