Background: The translation of standard-of-care in acute ischemic stroke reperfusion interventions into practice is well established, but multifactorial obstacles exist in complete adoption, which has led to inequities in access and delivery of services. The objective of this study was to improve access and efficiency of ischemic stroke treatment across four Atlantic Canadian Provinces.

Methods: A stepped-wedge cluster trial was conducted over 30 months with 3 clusters covering 34 sites.

Introduction: The well-being of emergency nurses in the workplace has a significant impact on their performance and patient care. Measuring emergency nurses' subjective well-being is necessary to identify their perceived well-being and areas for improvement. However, none of the existing instruments are specifically designed to measure emergency nurses' subjective well-being, making measurement of it less representative and accurate than with an appropriate instrument.

Predicting Ischemic Stroke Patients to Transfer for Endovascular Thrombectomy Using Machine Learning: A Case Study.

: Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) is highly effective for ischemic stroke patients with a large vessel occlusion. EVT is typically only offered at urban hospitals; therefore, patients are transferred for EVT from hospitals that solely offer thrombolysis. There is uncertainly around patient selection for transfer, which results in a large number of futile transfers.

Biocontrol potential of Vibrio maritimus chitinase: Heterologous expression and insecticidal activity against Acanthoscelides obtectus.

In this study, the chitinase gene from the marine bacterium Vibrio maritimus was heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli, purified via affinity chromatography and tested for its insecticidal activity against the storage pest Acanthoscelides obtectus. The recombinant VmChiA protein exhibited a molecular mass of ∼60 kDa, with optimum activity observed at pH 6.0 and 40 °C.

Investigation of Probiotic Properties of 4 N-6 Strain Isolated From Cow Milk.

The aim of the present study was to characterize the probiotic potential of 4 N-6 strain isolated from cow's milk. For this purpose, acid, bile salt, pancreatin, pepsin, phenol, and lysozyme tolerance, co-aggregation and auto-aggregation properties, phytase production, antibiotic resistance, and antibacterial properties were analyzed in vitro. The strain had relatively poor acid, bile salt, and pepsin tolerance.
