In this study, two compounds have been isolated from the Arctic-derived fungus INA 13460. Structural elucidation, performed using 2D NMR and HR-ESIMS data, has identified the compounds as stereoisomers of secalonic acids, dimeric tetrahydroxanthones. The absolute configurations of these stereoisomers have been determined through conformational NMR analysis and circular dichroism spectroscopy.

Introduction: Small mammals, especially rodents and bats, are known reservoirs of zoonotic viruses, but little is known about the viromes of insectivorous species including hedgehogs (order Eulipotyphla), which often live near human settlements and come into contact with humans.

Methods: We used high-throughput sequencing and metaviromic analysis to describe the viromes of 21 hedgehogs (Erinaceus sp.) sampled from summer 2022 to spring 2023.

According to research, the epidemic rise of influenza was preconditioned, during 2002-2003, in Russia by the circulation of influenza A(H1N1), A(H3N2) and B viruses. The Center of Influenza Ecology and Epidemiology undertook a study of 178 epidemic strains: 41 strains A(H1N1), 116 strains A(H3N2) and 21 strains of influenza B were among them. All strains were isolated in the MDCK cell culture.
