Objective: Infectious complications at the surgical site complicates 1-4% of cesarean deliveries. Strict aseptic technique, hand hygiene and the use of sterile surgical gloves are essential to reduce the risk of surgical site contamination. Glove perforations are observed in almost 30% of all procedures and represent an underestimated potential risk factor for postoperative infections.

Background: Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) is a serious obstetric condition associated with increased maternal, fetal, and neonatal morbidity and mortality. It accounts for approximately one-third of all spontaneous preterm births and is associated with complications such as respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), sepsis, pulmonary hypoplasia, and neonatal mortality. Despite significant advances in prenatal care, proper management, particularly in early gestational age, remains unclear.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the predictive value of the Diastolic Deceleration Area (DDA), a novel Doppler ultrasound parameter, in detecting adverse neonatal outcomes in fetuses with late-onset fetal growth restriction (FGR). While Doppler parameters such as cerebroplacental ratio (CPR), umbilicocerebral ratio (UCR), and cerebralplacentaluterine ratio (CPUR) are commonly used for fetal monitoring, their predictive power varies. Given the importance of cerebral blood flow redistribution in fetal adaptation to hypoxia, we investigated whether DDA could serve as a reliable indicator of fetal distress and adverse perinatal outcomes.

This study presents the modified Cordes method, a novel ultrasonographic technique that provides a precise and practical evaluation of fetal situs during pregnancy, particularly in the first and early second trimesters. This method entails precisely aligning the probe and hand to obtain a clear image of the fetal thorax in the axial plane. The fundamental procedures involve ascertaining the initial location of the fetal head, rotating the probe, aligning the thorax at the center, and positioning the left hand to clearly identify the fetal situs.
