Background: Preformed osteosynthesis plates are a novel treatment option for the fixation of zygomaticomaxillary complex (ZMC) fractures. A preformed plate may improve the reduction accuracy, as an accurate fit and sufficient fixation possibilities are provided.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent of Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19), continues to circulate globally despite the widespread vaccination and therapeutics like Paxlovid, remdesivir, and molnupiravir. COVID-19 is associated with both respiratory and gastrointestinal manifestations, with persistent intestinal pathology contributing to the post-COVID-19 condition. We have previously demonstrated the antiviral activity of autophagy-blocking drugs, such as Berbamine dihydrochloride, against intestinal SARS-CoV-2 acquisition.

The primary aim of this study was to assess the accuracy and predictability of a splintless treatment protocol for edentulous patients with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) undergoing maxillomandibular advancement (MMA). Ten consecutive edentulous patients treated with MMA were enrolled in this retrospective study. Mandibular reconstruction after oncologic resection is challenging owing to functional and esthetic demands. Three-dimensional virtual surgical planning enhances surgical predictability and precision. This study compared separate versus connected mandibular resection guides, hypothesizing that connected guides achieve more precise alignment with the virtual surgical plan, thereby improving resection accuracy and reconstruction outcomes.
