Clinical outcome and complications comparison between expandable and static cages in open TLIF surgery: A 2-year retrospective study.

Expandable cage is designed to facilitate cage insertion from small posterior inlet and minimize neural structure over-traction, at the same time, to expand the disk space as large as possible while prevent posterior endplate breakage during cage insertion in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion surgery. The purpose of this study is to compare radiologic and clinical outcomes between expandable and static cage, and complications of the 2 groups. Between January 2021 and January 2023, patients with lumbar spine degeneration or herniation of intervertebral disk accepting transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion surgery were included in the study.

Initial Effects of Dynamic Tape on Foot Arch Height Under Cyclic Loading: A Pilot Study Among University Students.

Background: Dynamic tape is one of the options for supporting the foot arch in the management of arch-related disorders. However, its mechanical effects on the foot arch remain unclear, particularly under cyclic loading. This study aims to investigate the initial effects of dynamic taping on maintaining foot arch height under cyclic loading among university students.

Reduced alcohol preference and intake after fecal transplant in patients with alcohol use disorder is transmissible to germ-free mice.

Alcohol use disorder is a major cause of morbidity, which requires newer treatment approaches. We previously showed in a randomized clinical trial that alcohol craving and consumption reduces after fecal transplantation. Here, to determine if this could be transmitted through microbial transfer, germ-free male C57BL/6 mice received stool or sterile supernatants collected from the trial participants pre-/post-fecal transplant.
