This study sought to assess the impact of diabetes and hypertension on wound healing and recovery in orthopedic patients, with an emphasis on laboratory correlations. This study included 67 orthopedic patients, divided into a geriatric group (n = 49, ≥65 years) and a control group (n = 18). Clinical and laboratory assessments were performed at admission and discharge.

In this prospective observational study, from an initial cohort of 1000 patients, 555 adults (≥18 years) with confirmed COVID-19 were enrolled based on inclusion criteria. All underwent LDCT imaging, scored by the CTSS (0-25 points), quantifying involvement across five lung lobes.

There is an unmet need for imaging tools that are fast, reliable, and safe for repeated use in acute clinical settings. In this prospective, multicenter study, over 1000 patients hospitalized with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 were initially screened.

Clamping force in the context of railway fastening systems refers to the force that holds the rail firmly against the sleeper to ensure track stability and maintain proper rail alignment under dynamic loads. The results of laboratory tests carried out in accordance with the applicable European standards of the PN-EN 13,481 and PN-EN 13,146 series are described synthetically.

Despite documented cardiovascular disparities between urban and rural populations, data linking these environments with PE incidence and haematologic changes are scarce. The study investigates the differences in acute pulmonary embolism (APE) incidence and dynamic haematologic changes between urban and rural orthopaedic patients.

The review evaluates the impact of nursing knowledge and engagement in the early detection of thromboembolic complications and mortality rates in trauma-orthopaedic wards, emphasizing the importance of the education of nurses and VTE prophylaxis.
Review Methods: A systematic review was conducted using Google Scholar and PubMed, focusing on articles published between 2013-2023.
•Pulmonary embolism remains a frequent medical problem, despite the increase in implementation of anticoagulant drugs.•The costs of diagnostics and therapy of pulmonary embolism are significant.•The orthopedic patients are one of the high-risk groups of pulmonary embolism.

Material And Methods: An exhaustive literature review was conducted using medical databases such as PubMed, MEDLINE, and Scopus. This review was complemented by original cadaveric research involving 30 autopsied adult bodies, encompassing 60 lower limbs, to empirically investigate the TVI's anatomical characteristics.
Background: Pulmonary embolism (PE) poses a significant challenge in diagnosis and treatment, particularly in high-risk patient populations such as those hospitalized for orthopedic reasons. This study explores the predictive and diagnostic potential of laboratory parameters in identifying PE among orthopedic patients.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine whether selected (inexpensive and readily available) laboratory parameters and their coefficients can be used to diagnose pulmonary embolism and whether they are applicable in predicting its occurrence.
Introduction And Objective: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is one of the most important and life-threatening complications in orthopaedic surgery. According to current scientific reports, there are several variables that can affect the severity of CVD, including the site of the pathology or the type of treatment implemented. The aim of the study was to analyze the risk of VTE depending on the location of the pathology, as well as to evaluate the impact of surgical treatment compared to conservative management.

Surgical treatment of thoraco-lumbar fractures continues to comprise a major medical problem. The aim of this study was to assess and compare the long-term effects of surgical treatments of thoracic and lumbar spinal fractures treated with transpedicular stabilization, combined with posterior interbody spinal fusion (PLIF, also known as spondylodesis) or Daniaux reconstruction.

Degenerative lesions with hyperostosis on the anterior surface of cervical spine are common in clinical practice. In addition to pain being an effect of spinal dysfunction, they sometimes cause difficulties in swallowing or speaking as well as breathing disorders. A 52-year-old farmer with 4-year history of gradually intensifying dysphagia was admitted to hospital due to inability to intake a solid food, significant weight loss, and because of the appearance of a new symptom - dysphonia.
