Advancing knowledge, maps and tools to address obesity and related socio-economic disparities in Europe: the OBCT project.

The steady rise in overweight and obesity in Europe disproportionately affects people and communities with a lower socio-economic position (SEP). Many obesity prevention approaches exist, but these have had limited reach and unsatisfactory effects thus far, especially in low-SEP populations. In this context, there is a need for implementation of effective individual-level and population-based preventive strategies that also tackle health inequalities.

Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) typically arises in patients with underlying cirrhosis, hepatobiliary malignancies, abdominal inflammatory conditions, or hematologic disorders. However, in non-cirrhotic individuals, PVT is less common and may initially present with minimal symptoms, escalating significantly if it extends to the mesenteric veins. Here, we present the case of a 37-year-old male with combined portal and mesenteric venous thrombosis, manifesting as acute intestinal obstruction.

Chronic Liver Disease as a Risk Factor For Post-ERCP Complications: A Nationwide Retrospective Analysis.

Introduction: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is indicated for multiple pancreatic and biliary pathologies and carries a heightened risk profile compared with other endoscopic procedures. Considerable research has been directed towards discerning risk factors associated with complications such as post-ERCP pancreatitis and post-ERCP bleeding. Despite this, data on chronic liver disease (CLD) as a risk factor for complications is limited.

Protective effects of long term antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy in hospitalized patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with its rising prevalence rates is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular and thromboembolic events. Antiplatelets and/or anticoagulants agents are often prescribed but the literature on the impact of long-term anticoagulation and/or antiplatelet use among patients hospitalized with IBD is scarce. The aim of this study is to assess the outcomes of patients hospitalized with IBD on antiplatelet and/or anticoagulant agents.

Behcet's Disease Presenting as Pancolonic Ulcerations in a Patient With Kikuchi-Fujimoto Disease: A Rare Gastrointestinal Manifestation.

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease (KFD) is a rare and self-limiting disorder characterized by cervical lymphadenopathy and fever. In this report, we present a case of a 24-year-old man with known history of KFD who presented with lower gastrointestinal bleeding and acute blood loss anemia. Further evaluation with colonoscopy showed widespread ulcerations in the colon and terminal ileum with suspicion for Behcet's disease.

Prevalence and patterns of helmet use among motorized two-wheelers: findings from a large observational study in an Indian metropolis.

Motorized two-wheeler users account for 45% of road fatalities in 2021 in India. Correct helmet use decreases the risk of fatalities, but information about the prevalence of correct helmet use is limited in the Indian context. This study aims to assess the prevalence of helmet use and factors associated with correct helmet use among motorized two-wheeler users in Bengaluru city, India.

Here, we present the case of a 40-year-old male with unintentional weight loss and a history of foreign body ingestion a few years prior.
