Evaluating the likelihood of pediatric sacral nerve stimulator explantations due to cure or complications: a survival analysis of 13-year institutional cohort.

Introduction: Sacral neuromodulation (SNM) is a treatment option for children with refractory bladder and bowel dysfunction. Prior investigations have shown children may achieve cure of their symptoms following SNM implants and subsequently have their devices explanted. Herein, we present a 13-year experience of pediatric SNM placements and evaluate the likelihood of SNM explantation for any cause, for symptom resolution or complications.

Pancreatic Tuberculosis Manifesting as Pancreatic Mass: A Case Report.

Tuberculosis (TB) continues to be a major global health burden, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, where it contributes significantly to morbidity and mortality. While pulmonary TB is the most common form, extrapulmonary manifestations, including pancreatic TB, are rare and often pose diagnostic challenges. Isolated pancreatic TB in immunocompetent individuals is exceptionally uncommon and is rarely considered in the initial differential diagnosis of a pancreatic mass.

Evaluating the trainee impact on robotic surgery learning curves: a CUSUM analysis of large series pediatric robot-assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty.

Robot-assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty (RALP) is a minimally invasive treatment for ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO). The learning curves for RALP have been well-documented, primarily in post-fellowship surgeons, but the impact of trainee involvement during fellowship training remains unclear. This study aims to (1) establish a large series post-fellowship single surgeon learning curve and (2) analyze the impact of annual trainee involvement on surgical proficiency using cumulative sum (CUSUM) analysis.

Introduction: The American Urological Association (AUA) recommends urology referral and surgery for undescended testicle (UDT) before 18 months of age, but it has been shown that many referrals occur later, influenced by social factors.

Objective: This study aims to identify key social factors that impact UDT referral timing and appropriateness.

Study Design: Pediatric patients referred to our institution for UDT management from 2018 to 2023 were analyzed.

Belzutifan as the Primary Treatment of Bilateral Juxtapapillary Retinal Hemangioblastoma in a Patient With Von Hippel-Lindau Disease.

To describe the efficacy of belzutifan as a treatment for juxtapapillary retinal hemangioblastomas in patients with von Hippel-Lindau disease. A case and its findings were analyzed, and a systematic literature review was conducted using PubMed and Ovid MEDLINE. At a routine follow-up, a 63-year-old woman with a history of von Hippel-Lindau disease and slowly progressive bilateral juxtapapillary retinal hemangioblastomas presented with decreased visual acuity (VA) in the right eye resulting from significant lesion growth and an increase in central macular edema and exudate.

Adherence to follow-up ten years after hypospadias repair.

Introduction: Periodic follow-up prior to and after puberty to evaluate for long-term sequalae following hypospadias repair is commonly recommended. Few studies have evaluated this follow-up, especially into adulthood. A review of robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy in the management of renal duplication anomalies.

Open and purely laparoscopic partial nephrectomy or heminephrectomy has been the standard management for renal duplication anomalies for symptomatic children with non-functional renal moieties. While robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (RALPN) has been established as a safe and feasible option for the management of renal duplex anomalies, there remains a paucity of data on this topic. The aim of this study is to comprehensively review all available outcomes data and update the use of emerging technologies in robotic surgery which continue to make RALPN a viable and advantageous option in the management of renal duplex anomalies.

Clinical Features and Treatment Outcome of a Concurrent Central Retinal Vein Occlusion and Cilioretinal Artery Occlusion.

We describe the clinical features and treatment outcome of a patient with combined central retinal vein occlusion and cilioretinal artery occlusion. A 52-year-old female presented to our clinic with decreased vision in the right eye for 4 days. Visual acuity and intraocular pressure were count fingers at 2&1/2M and 14 mm Hg in the right and 20/20 and 16 mm Hg in the left eye, respectively.

Intermittent and Unilateral Chorioretinal Folds due to Combined Chiari 1 Malformation and Basilar Invagination.

We report the case of a 35-year-old female with combined Chiari 1 malformation and basilar invagination, who presented with intermittent conjunctival chemosis and unilateral chorioretinal folds that were temporally correlated. She denied any flashes, floaters, eye redness, or pain. She also denied nausea or vomiting.

Melanoma metastasis to the bladder: A case report.

Metastasis of malignant melanoma to the bladder is rarely seen clinically with only 29 cases reported in English-language literature. However, autopsy series of melanoma patients have shown that metastasis to the bladder could be as high as 37%, implying that numerous cases remain undiagnosed. This report details a case of malignant melanoma metastasis to the bladder.

Association between nuclear grade of renal cell carcinoma and the aorta-lesion-attenuation-difference.

Introduction And Background: Several features noted on renal mass biopsy (RMB) can influence treatment selection including tumor histology and nuclear grade. However, there is poor concordance between renal cell carcinoma (RCC) nuclear grade on RMB compared to nephrectomy specimens. Here, we evaluate the association of nuclear grade with aorta-lesion-attenuation-difference (ALAD) values determined on preoperative CT scan.

Sequential endogenous endophthalmitis, fungal keratitis, bacteremia and vertebral osteomyelitis in a person who injects drugs.

Purpose: To describe multiple ocular (and non-ocular) manifestations of disease that can present in a person who injects drugs (PWID). We report a case of a patient consecutively presenting across multiple visits to an ambulatory eye care clinic as the initial point of contact for endogenous endophthalmitis, fungal keratitis, bacteremia, and psoas abscess with vertebral osteomyelitis within a matter of weeks.

Observations: A 51-year-old male with past medical history of alcohol use disorder and injection drug use was initially seen in an eye clinic three days after suffering vision loss in the left eye associated with floaters, photophobia, and eye pain.

Validation of aorta-lesion-attenuation difference on preoperative contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan to differentiate between malignant and benign oncocytic renal tumors.

Objectives: We previously noted that the aorta-lesion-attenuation difference (ALAD) determined on CT scan discriminated well between chromophobe RCC and oncocytoma. The current evaluation seeks to validate these initial findings in a second cohort of nephrectomy patients.

Purpose Of Review: The United States has experienced a dramatic rise in opioid and injection drug use over the past 2 decades. A public health emergency was declared in 2017 and subsequently, there have been several new reports on the rise of endogenous endophthalmitis specifically associated with injection drug use. The purpose of this review is to provide a current perspective of the ocular harms posed by injection drug use.
