Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by impaired antibody production and recurrent infections. In this study we investigated the clinical and immunological features of CVID in Indian patients and develops a machine learning model for predicting disease severity. We retrospectively analyzed 150 patients diagnosed with CVID over a decade at a tertiary care center in India.

Stakeholder's Perspectives on the Barriers and Facilitators of Childhood Cancer Care in India.

Objective: To explore the stakeholders' perspectives on barriers and facilitators influencing childhood cancer care delivery in India.

Methods: A nationwide survey was conducted across 26 states and 4 Union Territories, involving childhood cancer physicians from tertiary and secondary hospitals, state nodal officers (SNOs) for the National Programme for Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD), and representatives from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). A hub-and-spoke sampling model was employed, with designated tertiary hospitals coordinating data collection from secondary hospitals.

Aquifer pollution by metal-antibiotic complexes: Origins, transport dynamics, and ecological impacts.

Aquifer pollution by metal-antibiotic complexes is a rising environmental and public health concern owing to their enhanced mobility and persistence in groundwater. The purpose of this review is to examine the origins, transport dynamics, and ecological impacts of complexes formed through interactions between metal ions and antibiotics in agricultural runoff, pharmaceutical effluents, and wastewater discharge. Metal-antibiotic complexes are more resistant to degradation and are more soluble than their components.

Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles from extract for the evaluation of antibacterial and anticorrosion properties.

Plant-mediated synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is an eco-friendly and convenient alternative to conventional methods. leaf extract (BHE) was used in this study to reduce metal salts and cap and stabilize nanoparticles (NPs), which were characterized and tested for antibacterial and anti-corrosion properties. Stirring the extract with AgNO led to a color change, indicating nanoparticle formation.

Prevalence of osteoporosis and associated factors among people aged 50 years and older in the Madhesh province of Nepal: a community-based cross-sectional study.

Background: The high prevalence of osteoporosis has increased the economic burden on the health system globally. The burden of osteoporosis and its associated factors have not been adequately assessed in community settings in the Nepalese context thus far. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the prevalence of osteoporosis and its associated factors, lifestyle behaviors, and dietary calcium intake.

An assessment of childhood cancer care services in India - gaps, challenges and the way forward.

Background: Childhood cancers are emerging as an essential concern in India where there is lack of a specific programme component or policy to address childhood cancer control. There is limited information on the status and quality of childhood cancer care services in India. This paper describes the childhood cancer care services available at secondary and tertiary-level hospitals in India through a cross sectional study design.

Effect of platelet-rich plasma versus steroid injection in plantar fasciitis: a randomized clinical trial.

Background: Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a common orthopaedic problem, with heel pain worsening the quality of life. Although steroid injection is often used if the conservative treatment fails, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injection is gaining popularity due to its safety and long-lasting effect. However, the effect of PRP versus steroid injection in PF has not been studied yet in Nepal.

This study aimed to assess the factors influencing inappropriate child feeding practices in children aged 6 - 23 months in families receiving nutrition allowance in the remote Mugu district, Nepal.

Methods: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 318 mothers who had children aged 6 - 23 months of age in the seven randomly selected wards.

The newborn weight of an infant is considered a crucial factor for morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to assess the association between maternal hemoglobin concentration and newborn weight at term pregnancy.

The effect of pre-operative carbohydrate loading in femur fracture: a randomized controlled trial.

Background: Femur fracture is a major burden among elderly people, leading patients to be bedridden for a long time in the hospital. The body is more likely to be in a catabolic state as a result of the prolonged fasting period required for surgery, leading to an increase in insulin resistance. Pre-operative carbohydrate loading has been shown to improve postoperative outcomes in several countries.

Prevalence and factors associated with anemia among women of reproductive age in seven South and Southeast Asian countries: Evidence from nationally representative surveys.

Background: Anemia remains a major public health challenge with high prevalence among women in South and Southeast Asian countries. Reductions in anemia rates have been stalled, despite the implementation of different maternal health and nutrition programs. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and factors associated with anemia among women of reproductive age in seven selected South and Southeast Asian countries.

Dietary Risk Factors Associated with Development of Gastric Cancer in Nepal: A Hospital-Based Case-Control Study.

Objectives: Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most prevalent neoplasms and a leading cause of mortality globally. To our knowledge, its relationship with dietary factors is not adequately studied and understood in the Nepalese context. This study is aimed at exploring the relationship between the possible dietary risk factors responsible for gastric cancer in Nepal.

Association of Lifestyle and Food Consumption with Bone Mineral Density among People Aged 50 Years and Above Attending the Hospitals of Kathmandu, Nepal.

Background: Bone mineral density (BMD) is the measure of the minerals, mostly calcium and phosphorous, contained in certain volume of bone to diagnose osteoporosis. The aim of the study was to find out the association of lifestyle and food consumption with BMD.

Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted among 169 people of age 50 years and above who underwent Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA or DXA) scan in the hospitals of Kathmandu valley of Nepal.

Effect of nutrition education on hemoglobin level in pregnant women: A quasi-experimental study.

Background: Anemia during pregnancy is a major public health problem globally with multiple causes including inadequate dietary intakes. The aim of the study was to assess the effect of nutrition education on nutritional knowledge, hemoglobin level and dietary intake of anemic pregnant women.

Materials And Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted among 115 mild to moderately anemic pregnant women attending ante natal clinics.

Metal Complexes of a Novel Schiff Base Based on Penicillin: Characterization, Molecular Modeling, and Antibacterial Activity Study.

A novel Schiff base ligand of type HL was prepared by the condensation of amoxicillin trihydrate and nicotinaldehyde. The metal complexes of Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn were characterized and investigated by physical and spectral techniques, namely, elemental analysis, melting point, conductivity, H NMR, IR, UV-Vis spectra, ESR, SEM, and mass spectrometry measurements. They were further analyzed by thermal technique (TGA/DTA) to gain better insight about the thermal stability and kinetic properties of the complexes.
