The Incidence, Risk Factors, and Outcomes of Acute Kidney Injury in Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Recipients.

Introduction: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent complication after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), with reported incidences ranging from 20-70% within the first 100 days post-transplant. AKI can adversely impact outcomes and survival in this patient population.

Methods: This retrospective study evaluated 110 pediatric patients who underwent HSCT at Mofid Children's Hospital, affiliated with Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran, between 2016-2021.

Allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in an Iranian patient with osteopetrosis caused by carbonic anhydrase II deficiency: A case report.

Background: Osteopetrosis is a group of geneticall heterogeneous disorders resulting from impaired osteoclast function and bone resorption. The identification of specific genetic mutations can yield important prognostic and therapeutic implications. Herein, we present the diagnosis and successful application of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in a patient with osteopetrosis caused by carbonic anhydrase II deficiency (Intermediate osteopetrosis).

Efficacy and Safety of Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Children with Neuroimmunological Disorders: A Limited Unicentral Study.

Objectives: Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is a plasmapheresis procedure whose Safety data for pediatric neuro-immunological disorders (PNID) is confined. The present research documents TPE's safety and feasibility data in these conditions.

Materials & Methods: The current study involved six distinct groups of patients with PNID undergoing TPE: neuromyelitis optic spectrum disorder (NMOSD), autoimmune encephalitis (AIE), acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), multiple sclerosis (MS), Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), and optic neuritis (ON).

CD27 is a costimulatory receptor involved in the maturation of the innate and adaptive immunity. CD27, through interaction with CD70, plays a role in the control of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. CD27 deficiency leads to an immune dysregulation disease characterized by EBV susceptibility.

Rapid Desensitization for Hypersensitivity Reactions to Chemotherapeutic Drugs; A Case Series.

Usage of cancer chemotherapeutics drugs can be associated with adverse drug reactions. When IgE-mediated drug reactions are formed following administration of a chemotherapeutics drug that is a drug of choice, drug desensitization protocols can be helpful. HSR can be allergic or nonallergic, but the clinical manifestations are similar.

Educational ranking of medical universities in Iran (ERMU).

Several international ranking systems are available for examining the performance of universities internationally. However, it seems that in these rankings the educational functions are relatively discounted. In this study, we presented the theoretical framework, methodology, and results of 2 rounds of ERMU (educational ranking of medical universities) in Iran.

Social Accountable Medical Education: A concept analysis.

Introduction: Considering the pervasiveness of social accountable medical education concept around the world and the growing trend of literature in this regard as well as various interpretations made about this concept, we found it necessary to analyze the concept of social accountable medical education.

Methods: In this study, the modified version of McKenna's approach to concept analysis was used to determine the concept, explain structures and substructures and determine the border concepts neighboring and against social accountability in medical education.

Results: By studying the selected sources,the components of the concept were obtained to identify it and express an analytic definition of social accountability in medical education system.
