Perioperative Management of Carotid Blowout Syndrome After Head and Neck Cancer Treatment: A Retrospective Case Series.

Background: Carotid blowout syndrome (CBS) is a life-threatening emergency involving the rupture of the carotid arteries and/or branches, often following surgery and radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. Our case series aimed to describe airway management strategies, endovascular and surgical approaches, perioperative resuscitation management, and clinical outcomes in a cohort of patients with CBS at a tertiary referral academic health center.

Methods: We retrospectively identified patients presenting with CBS between 2017 and 2021.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) poses a major health burden among the Tharu community in Bardiya, Nepal, where gaps in knowledge, attitudes, and practices hinder effective disease prevention and management. This study aimed to assess the factors influencing knowledge, attitudes, and practice regarding SCD among the Tharu community in Bardiya District in Nepal. A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 423 individuals from the Tharu community across 3 municipalities in Bardiya District, Nepal, from April to September 2024, using a multi-stage random sampling technique.

Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by impaired antibody production and recurrent infections. In this study we investigated the clinical and immunological features of CVID in Indian patients and develops a machine learning model for predicting disease severity. We retrospectively analyzed 150 patients diagnosed with CVID over a decade at a tertiary care center in India.

Wavelength-dependent correlation of LIPSS periodicity and laser penetration depth in stainless steel.

This research paper delves into the exploration of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) on a 100 µm thin stainless steel (SS) sheet. Through the application of laser irradiation with wavelengths spanning from 400 to 2400 nm, we systematically generate ladder-like LIPSS across a substantial area, incorporating LIPSS with both low spatial frequency (LSFL) and high spatial frequency (HSFL) simultaneously. Notably, the embedded LIPSS exhibit a linear relationship in the observed spatial periodicity of LSFL and HSFL with wavelengths up to 2000 nm, after which a decrease in periodicity is observed.
