Background: Glucose challenge tests (GCT) are routinely used to screen for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), yet their acute effects on maternal and fetal hemodynamics remain unclear. Understanding these physiological responses is important in the context of increasing patient concern regarding the safety of such tests.

Aim: To investigate the acute effects of 50 g GCT on maternal and fetal Doppler ultrasound parameters in low-risk, healthy pregnant women.

Unveiling Benzoxazole-Substituted Thiazolyl-Pyrazole Derivatives Inducing Apoptosis by Targeting β-Tubulin and Caspase-3.

In the present study, the biological activities of novel compounds (BP-1 to BP-6), designed as antitubulin agents, were systematically evaluated, with a particular focus on their effects on the triple-negative breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 and non-cancerous cell line MCF-10A. BP-2 and BP-6 demonstrated micromolar-range antiproliferative activity against MDA-MB-231 cancer cells, with IC values of 8 and 4 µM, respectively, comparable to nocodazole (3 µM), and showed selective cytotoxicity over normal MCF-10A cells, with selectivity indices of approximately 3.3 and 8.

Excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT)-based fluorescent molecules offer several exciting applications and are utilized most frequently as a cell imaging agent. Because of this, four distinct imidazole derivatives with ESIPT emission have been synthesized, and their fluorescence characteristics have been assessed in a variety of settings. Alantolactone ameliorates graft versus host disease in mice.

The anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive drugs which are used in the treatment of Graft-versus-Host Disease (GVHD) have limited effects in controlling the severity of the disease. In this study, we aimed to investigate the prophylactic effect of Alantolactone (ALT) in a murine model of experimental GVHD. The study included 4 BALB/c groups as hosts: Naïve (n = 7), Control GVHD (n = 16), ALT-GVHD (n = 16), and Syngeneic transplantation (n = 10).

Evaluation of the effectiveness of colorectal cancer screening intervention.

Purpose: The effectiveness of the Colorectal Cancer (CRC) screening program is assessed based on the reduction in CRC mortality and incidence rates over time. To accurately estimate the long-term impact, it is advisable to monitor additional indicators such as age and stage-specific incidence rates. Our objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of the National CRC Screening Program in Turkey and analyze its influence on disease stage at diagnosis and survival rates.

Background: Ovarian cancer, also known as a silent killer, is the deadliest gynecological cancer in women worldwide. Epithelial ovarian cancers constitute the majority of ovarian cancers, and diagnosis can be made in advanced stages, which greatly reduces the likelihood of treatment and lowers the survival rate. For the treatment of epithelial ovarian cancers, the search for synthetic agents as well as agents of natural origin continues.

Cyclophilin A and D Levels in Acute Coronary Syndrome and Their Relationship with Cardiovascular Risk Factors.

The Relationship of COVID-19 Vaccination Status with Health Literacy of Syrians Living in Istanbul.

Health literacy is an important determinant of health care use among refugees and migrant communities. This present study aimed to evaluate the relationship between health literacy levels, sociodemographic characteristics, and the status of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in Syrians under "Temporary Protection" in Istanbul. This study was conducted in February, March, and May 2022 in an Extended Migrant Health Center in Istanbul, with a survey prepared in Arabic under observation.

Middle School Graduates' Understandings of Scientific Inquiry and Its Relation to Academic Achievement.

There are conflicting reports not only on the effect of scientific inquiry on academic achievement but also insufficient evidence on the relationship between understanding the nature of scientific inquiry and academic achievement; more generalizable studies are needed. The purpose of this large sampled study was to investigate the middle school graduates' understandings of scientific inquiry (SI) and the relationship between students' understandings of SI and academic achievement. The sample of the study ( = 3067) was selected by purposeful and layered-sampling techniques among ninth grade students studying at high schools with different orientations in Istanbul.

The Effect of Pneumococcal, Influenza, and COVID-19 Vaccinations on COVID-19 Hospitalization and Progression in People over 65 Years Old Living in Nursing Homes.

Infectious diseases pose a major threat to elderly populations. Streptococcus pneumonia bacteria, influenza-causing viruses, and COVID-19 viruses cause three pathologies in the respiratory system with similar symptoms, transmission routes, and risk factors. Our study aimed to evaluate the effects of pneumococcal, influenza, and COVID-19 vaccinations on the status of COVID-19 hospitalization and progression in people over 65 years of age living in nursing homes.

Evaluation of Preventive Health Practices in Turkey.

Background: Although preventive health practices are extremely effective in preventing diseases and mortality, there is still a need to determine the frequency of these practices in different countries and improve these rates.
