Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is frequently associated with thrombosis with thrombotic events, such as deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, often correlate with poor clinical outcomes. Coagulation markers have been suggested as potential prognostic indicators for CRC severity. However, the relationship with clinicopathological characteristics in CRC remains unclear.

The present study aimed to assess the immunohistochemical (IHC) expression and impact of EMT markers, including E-cadherin, Vimentin, β-catenin, and SMAD4, on the oncologic outcomes of CRC.
Methods: This was a retrospective review of 118 CRC patients.

Purpose: Assessment of individual VTE risk in cancer patients prior to chemotherapy is critical for determining necessity of interventions. Risk assessment models (RAM) are available but have not been validated for haematological malignancy. We aimed to assess the validity of the Vienna Cancer and Thrombosis Study (V-CATS) score in prediction of VTE in a variety of haematological malignancies.

Objective: Biliary tract carcinomas are uncommon but highly fatal malignancies. Unfortunately, most cases are ineligible for surgery at diagnosis with chemotherapy being the mainstay of treatment. The aim of this Phase II study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a biweekly outpatient regimen of gemcitabine plus oxaliplatin in cases of advanced biliary tract carcinomas.

Methods: The study was carried out on 40 patients with newly diagnosed colorectal cancer. The patients' data were collected prospectively and the 2 years overall survival was the endpoint.
