Background: Palmitoleic acid (POA) is an n-7 monounsaturated fatty acid. Preclinical studies suggest cis-POA lowers inflammation and improves metabolism. However, the impact of POA supplementation on inflammatory/metabolic biomarkers in humans is not well understood.

However, the impact of DHA on the spatial arrangement of alveolar macrophage lipid rafts and inflammation is unknown.
Objectives: The primary objective was to determine how DHA controls lipid raft organization and function of alveolar macrophages.
Background: Innate immune responses to influenza A virus (IAV) infection are initiated in part by toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3). TLR3-dependent signaling induces an antiviral immune response and an NFκB-dependent inflammatory response. Protease-activated receptor 2 (PAR2) inhibits the antiviral response and enhances the inflammatory response.
