Objectives: The manual coding of job descriptions is time-consuming, expensive and requires expert knowledge. Decision support systems (DSS) provide a valuable alternative by offering automated suggestions that support decision-making, improving efficiency while allowing manual corrections to ensure reliability. However, this claim has not been proven with expert coders.

Article Synopsis

A new system called OPERAS was created to help classify job descriptions and assess health risks from jobs more accurately and quickly.
OPERAS was tested on a huge number of job entries and showed better accuracy and less work for human coders compared to expert ratings.
This tool helps in keeping workers safe and healthy by improving the way we understand how jobs might impact health.
