Background: The expanding treatment landscape for patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative (HR+/HER2-) metastatic breast cancer (mBC) has led to the emergence of new "grey areas" not covered by international guidelines, where treatment decision making is particularly challenging.
Methods: Sixteen relevant statements regarding the management of HR+ /HER2- mBC were formulated by an Executive Board and validated by a Scientific Board, composed by internationally recognized experts in the field of BC. Subsequently, 50 Italian oncologists were surveyed between May 2024 and June 2024 through the modified Delphi method, in order to capture their rate of agreement and disagreement on the proposed statements.
Background: Fertility and pregnancy-related issues are critical for young patients with breast cancer. No proper evidence exists on physicians' knowledge, practice, and attitudes on dealing with these concerns in the specific group of patients with advanced disease.
Methods: A 26-item questionnaire was administered via e-mail in December 2023 to physicians who attended the ABC6 consensus conference (virtually, November 2021) and those who were registered for the ABC7 consensus conference (Lisbon, November 2023).
Importance: Endocrine therapy (ET) combined with cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitor (CDK4/6i) agents is the standard first-line treatment for patients with hormone receptor-positive, ERBB2 (formerly HER2 or HER2/neu)-negative metastatic breast cancer. However, optimal therapy after tumor progression to ET plus CDK4/6i remains unclear.
Objective: To evaluate progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in the clinical practice setting in patients with hormone receptor-positive, ERBB2-negative metastatic breast cancer following progression with ET plus CDK4/6i.

Methods: This is a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of antibody-drug conjugates currently approved for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer [trastuzumab-emtansine (T-DM1), trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) and sacituzumab-govitecan (SG)] versus standard therapy to evaluate the risk of adverse events, discontinuation rate due to toxicity, impact on quality of life according to EORTC QLQ-C30 scale and subdomains.
Introduction: We conducted an online survey to investigate oncologists' clinical practices and views on palliative care at the end of life in the Italian region of Liguria.
Methods: The survey included 29 items divided into three sections: participant characteristics (n=6), hospital resources and practices (n=11), participant practices and views (n=12).

Background: Offering ovarian function and/or fertility preservation strategies in premenopausal women with newly diagnosed breast cancer candidates to undergo chemotherapy is standard of care. However, few data are available on uptake and main reasons for refusing these options.
Methods: The PREFER study (NCT02895165) is an observational, prospective study enrolling premenopausal women with early breast cancer, aged between 18 and 45 years, candidates to receive (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy.
Over the last several decades, improvements in breast cancer treatment have contributed to increased cure rates for women diagnosed with this malignancy. Consequently, great importance should be paid to the long-term side effects of systemic therapies. For young women (defined as per guideline ≤40 years at diagnosis) who undergo chemotherapy, one of the most impactful side effects on their quality of life is premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) leading to fertility-related problems and the side effects of early menopause.

: The prognosis of patients with HER2-positive early breast cancer has radically improved after the introduction of (neo)adjuvant anti-HER2 targeted therapy. Trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) is an antibody-drug conjugate combining the anticancer properties of the anti-HER2 agent trastuzumab and the antineoplastic cytotoxic drug DM1. Breast cancer is the most frequent malignancy diagnosed in premenopausal women.
