Sodicity is a major abiotic stress affecting rice production by disrupting soil structure and impairing major physiological processes in plants. Landraces possess high genetic diversity and exhibit strong adaptation to diverse environmental stresses, including sodicity. In the present study, we screened 47 landraces and identified Norungan as highly tolerant to sodicity based on morpho-physiological traits.

However, its cultivation is constrained by several abiotic stresses, notably sodicity, which significantly reduces productivity and is expected to worsen in the near future. In this study, a genome-wide association study (GWAS) was conducted to identify genomic regions and candidate genes associated with sodicity tolerance in rice.

Gamma irradiation-induced mutagenesis has proven to be an effective method for generating dwarf rice mutants. In this research, we isolated a dwarf mutant from Anna R (4) in the M generation and subsequently stabilized the trait through successive selfing of progeny across the M-M generations.

Moreover, the leaves left over after harvesting rice bean seeds contain various biological constituents beneficial to humans and animals. In our study, we performed a de-novo transcriptome assembly of rice bean, characterized the WRKY transcription factors, and studied their response to aluminum stress.

But, long duration of highly preferred rice varieties requires more water and are prone to biotic and abiotic stresses. Short duration rice varieties serve as a promising alternative in such cases.

Rice ( L.) is one of the major cereal crops cultivated across the world, particularly in Southeast Asia with 95% of global production. The present study was aimed to evaluate the total phenolic content (TPC) and to profile all the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of eight popular traditional and two modern rice varieties cultivated in South India.
