Background: Thyroid hormone (TH) signaling drives cardiomyocyte (CM) maturation in endothermic animals. Elevated TH levels, coupled with increased basal metabolism, promote CM cell cycle exit and polyploidization, thus limiting heart regenerative potential. However, a comprehensive understanding of TH and its receptors, thyroid hormone receptors (TRs), orchestrating with other regulatory processes for heart regeneration, such as the hypoxia signaling pathway and post-injury metabolic switches, remains elusive.

Background: Zinc finger SWIM-type containing 4 (ZSWIM4) is a zinc finger protein with its function largely uncharacterized. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of ZSWIM4 in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs).

Results: We found that ZSWIM4 expression is inhibited by the predominantly mutated protein KIT in GISTs, while conversely, ZSWIM4 inhibits KIT expression and downstream signaling.

Heart development is a delicate and complex process regulated by coordination of various signaling pathways. In this study, we investigated the role of sox18 in heart development by modulating Wnt/β-Catenin signaling pathways. Our spatiotemporal expression analysis revealed that sox18 is mainly expressed in the heart, branchial arch, pharyngeal arch, spinal cord, and intersegmental vessels at the tailbud stage of Xenopus tropicalis embryo.
