Introduction: Clinical scores based on signs and symptoms have been used in thyroidology to identify individuals at high risk for hypothyroidism. The current study observes the signs and symptoms of patients with hypothyroidism who are positive for hypothyroidism according to the Zulewski clinical score, and determines associations between thyroid and lipid profiles.

Methods: The current prospective cohort study was conducted among newly diagnosed hypothyroid patients aged 18-65 years with a Zulewski score > 5 (indicative of hypothyroidism) and biochemically diagnosed as hypothyroid.

Background: Among the elderly, who are often exposed to polypharmacy, explicit deprescribing tools offer clear, validated guidelines for safely reducing medications. However, the effectiveness of these tools varies across healthcare settings and populations. In India, unique sociocultural and healthcare challenges demand a tailored approach to deprescribing for elderly patients, and the need to adapt existing tools to local contexts.

Background: The screening for thyroid function abnormalities in asymptomatic individuals remains a topic of debate. The impact of subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) on glucose metabolism has been less extensively researched. Our study aimed to assess the feasibility of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)-based screening and evaluate the prevalence of SCH among individuals with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) in a community-based setting.

Dengue fever is an important arboviral disease that significantly impacts the disease burden among populations residing in tropical regions. Dengue infection is known to have a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations, which range from fatal, life-threatening shock, encephalitis, and myocarditis to asymptomatic illness. Mild hepatic dysfunction with deranged hepatic laboratory parameters is a known entity with dengue fever.

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) of the lung is a rare mesenchymal neoplasm of uncertain histogenesis, unknown molecular features, and unpredictable clinical behavior, characterized by NAB2-STAT6 fusion. Hypoglycemia accompanying SFT (Doege-Potter syndrome) is an uncommon presentation. We present the cytomorphological features on biopsy imprint smears of a histopathologically confirmed case of SFT of the lung with an uncommon presentation.

Introduction: Adult tetanus is a neurotoxin mediated infectious disease, that continues to be seen despite availability of a highly efficacious vaccine. In India population-based burden estimates for adult tetanus are not available. Elimination of neonatal and maternal tetanus from India was achieved in 2015 with DPT (diphtheria, pertusis, and tetanus) vaccine during childhood and tetanus toxoid (TT) during antenatal care.

Introduction: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is known as a metabolovirus due to its impact on lipid and glucose metabolism in the liver. Previous literature showed a trend of hypolipidemia and reduced risk of metabolic syndrome in hepatitis B surface antigen-positive patients. However, data from the Indian population are lacking.

Background: Haematological manifestations in Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection have been uncommon since the advent of direct-acting antiviral drugs (DAAs). However, primary HCV infection can cause significant haematological disease in the form of various autoimmune cytopenias.

Case Presentation: We herein discuss a 68-years-old female with chronic HCV infection for the last 15 years (not on the treatment), who presented with complaints of progressive fatigue, exertional dyspnea, and increased abdominal distention over the previous 20 days.

Hence, the present study is aimed to evaluate the role of inflammatory markers in predicting the outcome of COVID-19 in hospitalized patients. A total of 272 confirmed COVID-19 patients were included in the study.

We studied the pattern and duration of viral ribonucleic acid (RNA) shedding in 32 asymptomatic and 11 paucisymptomatic coronavirus disease 2019 cases. Viral RNA shedding in exhaled breath progressively diminished and became negative after 6 days of a positive reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction test. Therefore, the duration of isolation can be minimized to 6 days.

Association of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) and CMV is well known but CMV acute myositis is a rare condition. Restriction of movements of limbs due to severe pain in myositis may obscure the diagnosis of GBS and this may easily miss.

The reported cases of non-neonatal tetanus have doubled from 2015 to 2017 in India, while neonatal tetanus has declined by half during this period. Most of these non- neonatal tetanus are acquired by occupational exposure especially in high risk populations such as agricultural workers, industrial workers and health care workers secondary to increased spore exposure or risk for minor injuries. We report a case of occupational tetanus in a steel worker and discuss the importance of recognising tetanus as an occupational hazard and address issues related to its early diagnosis and management.
