Background: Subcutaneous immunoglobulin (SCIg) is a promising alternative to intravenous Ig (IVIg) for the treatment of idiopathic inflammatory myositis (IIM), thanks to its more favorable safety profile, reduced costs, and lower impact on patients' quality of life. We assessed the short- and long-term effectiveness and safety of recombinant human hyaluronidase-facilitated SCIg (hf-SCIg) in patients with IIM treated at different referral centers in Italy.
Methods: A multicenter, retrospective, real-life cohort study was conducted on consecutive adult patients diagnosed with IIM according to the EULAR/ACR criteria, treated with hf-SCIg for remission induction or maintenance.
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic significantly increased the demand for allergy consultations to evaluate the risk of hypersensitivity reactions in patients either before receiving their first dose of an anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (Group 1) or following suspected allergic reactions after vaccination (Group 2).
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients referred to the Immunology and Allergy Unit of the Azienda Ospedaliera Ordine Mauriziano in Turin, Italy, between December 2020 and December 2022. Risk assessment was performed according to Italian and European guidelines, and allergy skin tests were administered when necessary.
Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterised by persistent hypereosinophilia associated with organ damage. Due to its rarity and heterogeneity in its clinical presentation, HES remains underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed, often leading to delayed diagnosis and irreversible organ damage. The complexity of HES diagnosis is even more complicated due to the absence of standardised criteria.

Background: Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare and potentially life-threatening genetic disorder characterized by unpredictable attacks of angioedema. MENTALIST (UnMEt Needs in herediTAry angioedema-a gLobal physIcian perSpecTive) is the first international survey uncovering unmet needs and identifying barriers to optimal management in HAE following the latest update of the World Allergy Organization (WAO)/European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) HAE guidelines.
Methods: This web-based survey comprised 24 questions on HAE management and unmet needs.
Background And Research Question: We aimed to assess whether levels of digital biomarkers can reflect monthly patterns of asthma control.
Study Design And Methods: We performed a longitudinal study on patients with asthma and comorbid rhinitis who filled ≥26 days of data in a month in the MASK-air® app and who reported at least 1 day of treatment with an inhaled corticosteroid with or without a long-acting β-agonist (ICS ± LABA). We applied k-means cluster analysis to define clusters of months according to daily asthma control and medication use.
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by airway hyperresponsiveness, variable airflow obstruction, and persistent inflammation. While its pathophysiology is well established, growing evidence highlights significant sex-based differences in its prevalence, severity, and treatment response. Epidemiological studies indicate that asthma is more common in prepubertal boys but shifts toward a female predominance after puberty, with adult women experiencing higher morbidity and greater healthcare utilization.

The aim of this study was evaluating the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and to identify CVID-related clinical, laboratory and therapeutic features inducing it.
Methods: A multicenter observational retrospective study on 367 adult CVID patients from five Italian Referral Centers for Primary Immunodeficiency.

Background: Danazol is regularly used as a prophylactic treatment in patients with Hereditary angioedema due to C1-inhibitor deficiency (HAE-C1INH). However, this drug is characterized by a risk of drug-drug interactions (DDIs). Berotralstat, the first oral kallikrein inhibitor, has been recently approved for the prevention of HAE attacks.

Earlier studies have shown that benralizumab improves asthma outcomes with greater efficacy if patients present CRSwNP.
Methods: This analysis of the ANANKE study (NCT04272463) reports data on the long-term effectiveness of benralizumab between SEA patients with and without CRSwNP ( = 86 and = 75, respectively) treated for up to 96 weeks.
Background: Allergic rhinitis may impair work productivity. This study aimed to assess (i) the differential impact of allergic rhinitis symptoms on work performance, assessed by means of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) work; and (ii) the effect of asthma comorbidity on work productivity.
Methods: We assessed data from the MASK-air mHealth app of patients with allergic rhinitis.
: Severe allergic asthma is usually treated with omalizumab; however, this drug may not be effective for every patient. By its action, dupilumab could be an alternative in these patients. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of dupilumab in patients with severe allergic asthma, non-responsive to omalizumab, according to the maintenance of their oral corticosteroid (OCS) dose, an exacerbation rate decrease, or poor control of the disease, despite optimized treatment.

We aimed to use data from the MASK-air mHealth app to assess adherence to oral antihistamines (OAH), intra-nasal corticosteroids (INCS) or azelastine-fluticasone in patients with allergic rhinitis.
Methods: We included regular European MASK-air users with self-reported allergic rhinitis and reporting at least 1 day of OAH, INCS or azelastine-fluticasone.

Background: A transient and usually asymptomatic increase in blood eosinophil count (BEC) associated with dupilumab treatment has been described. Predicting factors related to the increase in BEC and the occurrence of symptoms are still poorly investigated.
Objective: To investigate frequency, timing, duration, clinical relevance, and potential predictors of the increase in BEC in a real-life multicenter cohort of patients affected by asthma and/or chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) treated with dupilumab.
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of severe asthma (SA) treatments after 12 months in achieving clinical remission (CR) within the context of the Severe Asthma Network in Italy (SANI) using the recent SANI definition of CR on treatment.
Methods: CR has been defined by SANI as complete, partial, and no CR. Complete CR is defined by the absence of oral corticosteroids (OCS), no symptoms, no exacerbations, and stable lung function, and partial CR requires the absence of OCS and the fulfillment of 2 out of the other 3 criteria.

Background: Treatments for allergic rhinitis include intranasal or oral medications.
Objective: To perform a systematic review with meta-analysis comparing the effectiveness of intranasal corticosteroids or antihistamines versus oral antihistamines or leukotriene receptor antagonists in improving allergic rhinitis symptoms and quality of life.
Methods: We searched four bibliographic databases and three clinical trial datasets for randomized controlled trials (1) assessing patients aged 12 years and older with seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis, and (2) comparing intranasal corticosteroids or antihistamines versus oral antihistamines or leukotriene receptor antagonists.
Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by a variety of both signs and symptoms; it mainly affects women of childbearing age, with an estimated prevalence of 24/100,000 people in Europe and North America. SLE is often described as an antibodies-driven disease as its clinical manifestations are usually associated with the presence or the absence of specific antibodies.
Objectives: To evaluate clinical manifestations in patients with SLE and to assess the relationship with the presence of specific antibodies by using real-world data.
