Objectives: To determine the cost-effectiveness of second-line immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) compared with chemotherapy in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using real-world patient-level treatment effectiveness, cost, and utility data.

Methods: Medical records of patients with NSCLC receiving second-line ICIs or chemotherapy at Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand from January 2016 to May 2023 were reviewed to evaluate treatment effectiveness and direct medical costs. Patients receiving treatment from July 2023 to March 2024 were interviewed to determine utility and direct nonmedical costs.

Background: Growing understanding of the heterogenous molecular profiles of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has led to changes in the treatment landscape of advanced NSCLC towards precision medicine to target actionable gene alterations. Practical barriers, such as lack of awareness/understanding of biomarkers, suboptimal quality or sample management, inappropriate use of biomarker testing results, limited patient access to biomarker tests and targeted treatments, and reimbursement/payment challenges, hinder the wider adoption of guideline-recommended biomarker testing. Limited reimbursement of targeted therapies is a key consideration for Thai oncologists when making a treatment choice for their patients with advanced NSCLC in Thailand.

Purpose: The use of short hydration (SH) to prevent cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity lacks substantive prospective evaluation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of SH, including those with head and neck cancer (HNC) who are at higher risks of mucositis that causes diminished oral intake.

Methods: This phase II randomized noncomparative trial included patients with cancer who were scheduled to receive high-dose cisplatin (≥60 mg/m) in combination with another chemotherapy or concurrently with radiotherapy.

Lung and bladder cancers are mostly incurable because of the early development of drug resistance and metastatic dissemination. Hence, improved therapies that tackle these two processes are urgently needed to improve clinical outcome. We have identified RSK4 as a promoter of drug resistance and metastasis in lung and bladder cancer cells.

Background: KRAS, NRAS, and BRAF gene mutations are the most clinically relevant and frequently reported in colorectal cancer (CRC). Although data on these genes are frequently reported in several counties, data specific to these genes among Thai population are scarce. The aim of this study was to investigate and identify molecular alterations associated with colon cancer in Thai population, and to determine the impact of these genetic aberrations on clinical outcome.

Background: Non-squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (HNnSCCA) is a rare tumor. Surgery is the standard treatment for resectable non-metastatic patients. Post-operative radiation (RT) is indicated for high-risk patients.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of ginger for reducing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) in breast cancer patients receiving adriamycin and cyclophosphamide (AC) regimens.

Methods: We enrolled breast cancer patients receiving AC who experienced moderate to severe nausea or vomiting during the first chemotherapy cycle. Subjects were randomized to receive a 500-mg ginger capsule or placebo twice a day for 5 days starting on the first day of the second AC cycle and were switched to the other treatment in the third cycle.
