Introduction: Diet quality indices are essential tools for evaluating dietary patterns in relation to health and sustainability. This study aims to assess the quality of the Italian diet using the Adherence to Italian Dietary Guidelines Indicator (AIDGI) and World Index for Sustainability and Health (WISH2.0) and to estimate ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption as an indicator of poor diet quality.

The aim of the present study was to publish a case report of the ASR and to present a mini review of the international literature.

In recent decades, an increasing body of research has highlighted significant scientific evidence linking adherence to the Mediterranean diet with a reduced risk of chronic diseases. Simultaneously, concerns about the environmental impact of the food system have intensified, particularly considering projected population growth in the coming years. This work introduces a new graphical representation of the traditional Mediterranean dietary model, developed by a dedicated Working Group of the Italian Society of Human Nutrition (SINU).

Accuracy of nursing diagnoses identified at admission and discharge of patients with decompensated heart failure.

Purpose: To determine the accuracy of nursing diagnoses at hospital admission and discharge for patients with heart failure (HF).

Methods: This comparative study examined the documentation in 155 medical records of patients with an admitting diagnosis of HF during August 2018 and July 2019. An audit tool was used to record the diagnoses made by nurses during routine care at the time of admission and discharge.

Genetic Risk Factors in Idiopathic and Non-Idiopathic Interstitial Lung Disease: Similarities and Differences.

Recent advances in genetics and epigenetics have provided critical insights into the pathogenesis of both idiopathic and non-idiopathic interstitial lung diseases (ILDs). Mutations in telomere-related genes and surfactant proteins have been linked to familial pulmonary fibrosis, while variants in MUC5B and TOLLIP increase the risk of ILD, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and rheumatoid arthritis-associated ILD. Epigenetic mechanisms, such as DNA methylation, histone modifications, and non-coding RNAs such as miR-21 and miR-29, regulate fibrotic pathways, influencing disease onset and progression.

CAR T cells in solid tumors and metastasis: paving the way forward.

CAR T cell therapy, hailed as a breakthrough in cancer treatment due to its remarkable outcomes in hematological malignancies, encounters significant hurdles when applied to solid tumors. While notable responses to CAR T cells remain sporadic in these patients, challenges persist due to issues such as on-target off-tumor toxicity, difficulties in their trafficking and infiltration into the tumor, and the presence of a hostile and immunosuppressive microenvironment. This review aims to explore recent endeavors aimed at overcoming these obstacles in CAR T cell therapy for solid tumors.

The European Union (EU) Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability regards chemicals that affect the immune system among the most harmful ones. The Extended One-Generation Reproductive Toxicity study (EOGRTS; Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) Test Guideline (TG) 443), addresses, among others, potential effects of chemicals on development. In specific cases, the EOGRTS is performed with addition of a so-called cohort 3, that addresses potential effects on the developing immune system, by means of a central assay measuring the T-cell dependent antibody response (TDAR).

Exploring food consumption patterns in the province of Kenitra, Northwest of Morocco.

Background: Morocco is currently undergoing rapid changes in diets and lifestyles, influenced by globalization and urbanization, leading to a shift away from the Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) toward Western diets.

Objective: Describe and explore the food consumption patterns of the population of Kenitra province and their adherence to the MedDiet using a validated survey.

Method: The current cross-sectional study involved 442 respondents from Kenitra province, comprising individuals aged 18 and above.

Exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN) is effective in inducing remission in pediatric Crohn disease (CD). EEN alters the intestinal microbiome, but precise mechanisms are unknown. We hypothesized that pre-diagnosis diet establishes a baseline gut microbiome, which then mediates response to EEN.

Adherence to Mediterranean Diet and Food Neophobia Occurrence in Children: A Study Carried out in Italy.

Food Neophobia (FN), defined as the reluctance to eat new or unfamiliar foods, mainly concerns fruit, vegetables, and legumes, typical of the Mediterranean Diet (MD). Considering these premises, this study aimed to clarify the relationship between FN and AMD in a sample of Italian children and their association with some socio-demographic factors and children's nutritional status. A sample of 288 children aged 3-11 years participated in an assessment carried out with a questionnaire evaluating FN and AMD, respectively, with the Child Food Neophobia Scale (CFNS) and the KIDMED test.

OrthoPass: Long-term Outcomes following Implementation of an Orthopaedic Patient Handoff Template.

Growing worldwide food demand with its environmental impacts requires a reshaping of food consumption. This study aims to evaluate the degree of Italian consumers' awareness of sustainability and whether protein alternatives to meat could be accepted. A cross-sectional survey was carried out on a group of 815 respondents, representative of the Italian adult population for geography, gender, and age, using multivariate analysis together with cluster analysis.

The impact of respiratory infections and probiotic use on the nasal microbiota of frail residents in long-term care homes.

Background: Residents in long-term care homes, who tend to be of advanced age and frail, are at increased risk of respiratory infections. The respiratory microbiota is known to change with age, but whether these changes contribute to the risk of infection is not known. Our goal was to determine how the nasal microbiota of frail older adults changes during symptoms of influenza-like illness (ILI) and how this may be impacted by enrolment in a placebo-controlled trial testing the feasibility of administering a GG probiotic to prevent respiratory infection (2014-2017).
