Background: We report long-term outcomes from a pooled analysis of patients with previously untreated metastatic NSCLC with programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) tumor proportion score (TPS) less than 1% enrolled in phase III studies of pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy versus placebo plus chemotherapy.

Methods: This exploratory pooled analysis included individual patient data from the KEYNOTE-189 global (NCT02578680) and Japan extension (NCT03950674) studies of metastatic nonsquamous NSCLC without EGFR or ALK alterations and the KEYNOTE-407 global (NCT02775435) and People's Republic of China extension (NCT03875092) studies of metastatic squamous NSCLC. Patients received pembrolizumab or placebo plus pemetrexed and cisplatin or carboplatin in KEYNOTE-189 and pembrolizumab or placebo plus carboplatin and paclitaxel or nab-paclitaxel in KEYNOTE-407.

Purpose: Locally recurrent, previously irradiated primary head and neck tumors have historically been associated with poor outcomes. Stereotactic body radiation therapy has emerged as a feasible and promising treatment option for tumor recurrence, particularly in nonsurgical candidates. This study aimed to assess the associated outcomes of stereotactic body radiation therapy used in this setting.

A novel flow-guided assembly approach is presented to accurately align and position nanowire arrays in pre-defined locations with high throughput and large-scale manufacturing capability. In this approach, a polymer solution is first filled in an array of microfluidic channels. Then a gas flow is introduced to blow out most of the solution while pushing a little leftover against the channel wall for assembly into polymer nanowires.

The management of locally advanced unresectable head and neck squamous cell cancer (HNSCC) continues to improve. One of the major advances in the treatment of HNSCC was the addition of chemotherapy to radiation in the treatment of non-surgical patients. The majority of the data regarding chemotherapy in HNSCC involve cisplatin chemotherapy with concurrent radiation.

Background: Survivors of stage I lung cancer are at increased risk of subsequent malignancies. Specific data on risk of subsequent malignancies are underreported in the literature. We studied the incidence of stage I lung cancer and the incidence of all second malignancies in survivors.

Background: The authors performed a phase 2 study of bevacizumab plus pemetrexed and carboplatin followed by maintenance bevacizumab in patients with advanced, nonsquamous nonsmall cell lung cancer.

Methods: Previously untreated patients with advanced, nonsquamous nonsmall cell lung cancer and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0 or 1 received bevacizumab 15 mg/kg, pemetrexed 500 mg/m(2) and carboplatin at an area under the concentration-time curve of 6 intravenously on day 1 every 21 days. Responding or stable patients who completed 6 cycles then received bevacizumab maintenance every 21 days until disease progression.

Visualizing single DNA dynamics in flow provides a wealth of physical insights in biophysics and complex flow study. However, large signal fluctuations, generated from diversified conformations, deformation history dependent dynamics and flow induced stochastic tumbling, often frustrate its wide adoption in single molecule and polymer flow study. We use a hybrid field microfluidic (HFM) approach, in which an electric field is imposed at desired locations and appropriate moments to balance the flow stress on charged molecules, to effectively regulate the initial conformations and the deformation dynamics of macromolecules in flow.
