To meet the special needs of preventive maintenance for oil and gas well pipelines, this study conducts a geometric dissection of remora suckerfish based on bionics. It combines the biological features with fiberboard tape and uses the discrete element method to construct a particle model of solvent-free, epoxy-reinforced polymer materials, determining relevant parameters. The model accuracy is verified through volumetric density and drop tests, and the optimal parameter combination of the remora-inspired structure is obtained via multi-factor simulation analysis.

Objective: Acute compartment syndrome is a major orthopedic emergency due to elevated pressure in the closed muscle compartment, and prompt evaluation and fasciotomy are always needed. However, the gold standard indicator of fasciotomy is still under debate. To date, few studies have investigated the variations in compartmental pressure at different locations in people of different ages.

Purpose: Fracture blister (FB) is a frequent complication in orthopedic surgery. The primary objective of this study was to refine the animal model of FB and to identify plasma protein markers associated with its development and progression.

Methods: In this study, Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were used as experimental subjects.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates acute compartment syndrome (ACS) in patients with tibial plateau fractures by monitoring compartment pressure changes and the role of human fascia in pressure release.
  • - A total of 23 patients with closed tibial fractures and 43 normal individuals were analyzed, measuring pressure at various lower limb locations over three days post-fracture.
  • - Results showed significant increases in compartment pressure in younger (18-45 years) and older (46-69 years) fracture patients compared to controls, especially at the upper lateral and medial locations, with pressures tending to normalize over time.

Background: Subacromial spurs are considered the one of the pathology underlying shoulder impingement syndrome. Furthermore, few studies have focused on the morphology of the subacromial spurs in normal Chinese people. This study aimed to study the spur distribution and to illustrate the morphology of spurs, which may help guide the extent of acromioplasty.

Coil-rod copolymers with a dendritic polyethylene (DPE) core and multiple helical poly(γ-benzyl-L-glutamate) (PBLG) arms (DPE-(PBLG)) were prepared by palladium-catalyzed copolymerization in tandem with ring-opening polymerization (ROP). Macroinitiator (DPE-(NH)) was firstly prepared by the group transformation of DPE-(OH) generated from palladium-catalyzed copolymerization of ethylene and acrylate comonomer. Coil-helical DPE-(PBLG) copolymers were prepared by ROP of γ-benzyl-L-glutamate-N-carboxyanhydride (BLG-NCA).
