Purpose: obstructive sleep apnea is underdiagnosed due to limited access to polysomnography (PSG). We aimed to assess the performances of Apneal, an application recording sound and movements thanks to a smartphone's microphone, accelerometer and gyroscope, to estimate patients' apnea-hypopnea index (AHI).
Methods: monocentric proof-of-concept study with a first manual scoring step, then automatic detection of respiratory events from recorded signals using a sequential deep-learning model (version 0.

Accurately detecting arousal events during sleep is essential for evaluating sleep quality and diagnosing sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome. While the American Academy of Sleep Medicine guidelines associate arousal events with electroencephalogram (EEG) signal variations, EEGs are often not recorded during home sleep testing (HST) using wearable devices or smartphone applications. The primary objective of this study was to explore the potential of alternatively relying on combinations of easily measurable physiological signals during HST for arousal detection where EEGs are not recorded.

The aim of this study was to examine whether a 16-h exposure to 32 °C leads to reduced EI compared to a control session (22 °C) and whether modifications in appetite sensations or food reward are implied. Sixteen healthy, lean, and active participants (9 women and 7 men, 25 ± 5 yo, body mass index: 22.

We searched the following sources for publications on this topic: PubMed, Ovid Medline, Science Direct and SPORTDiscus. The eligibility criteria for study selection were: randomized controlled trials performed in adults (169 men and 30 women; 20-52 years old) comparing EI at one or more meals taken , during and/or after exposure to heat/cold and thermoneutral conditions.
