Coffin-Siris syndrome (CSS) is a rare genetic condition associated with mutations in genes responsible for the modulation of gene expression and chromatin remodeling. Patients with CSS commonly present with congenital anomalies, intellectual disabilities, and developmental delays. We describe a case of a 28-year-old woman with a confirmed diagnosis of CSS and mutation who presents with multiple schwannomas and an intra-abdominal neurofibroma.

A limiting factor in the regenerative capacity of the adult brain is the abundance and proliferative ability of neural stem cells (NSCs). Adult NSCs are derived from a subpopulation of embryonic NSCs that temporarily enter quiescence during mid-gestation and remain quiescent until postnatal reactivation. Here we present evidence that the mechanistic/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway regulates quiescence entry in embryonic NSCs of the developing forebrain.

This article examines recent attempts to create specifically African forms of modernist political architecture that draw on 'traditional' or 'pre-colonial' aesthetic forms and ideas. Taking examples of three prestigious structures - the presidential palace in Ghana, the parliament in Malawi and the Northern Cape regional parliament in South Africa - the article shows how vernacular ideas have been incorporated into state-of-the-art political architecture, producing new or explicitly 'African' forms of modernism. It explores how such buildings, which draw on 'invented traditions', are used alongside conventional, monolithic representations of the state to produce 'invented modernisms' that both uphold and question the African state as a project of modernity.

Background: A composite measure that assesses both cognitive and functional abilities in Parkinson's disease (PD) would be useful for diagnosing mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and PD dementia (PDD) and as an outcome measure in randomized controlled trials. The Clinical Dementia Rating Scale Sum of Boxes (CDR-SOB) was designed to assess both cognition and basic-instrumental activities of daily living in Alzheimer's disease but has not yet been validated in PD.

Objective: To validate the CDR-SOB as a composite cognitive-functional measure for PD patients, as well as to assess its sensitivity to change.

Nurses who care for patients with life-limiting illness operate at the interface of family caregivers (FCGs), patients, and prescribers and are uniquely positioned to guide late-life medication management, including challenging discussions about deprescribing. The study objective was to describe nurses' perspectives about their role in hospice FCG medication management. Content analysis was used to analyze qualitative interviews with nurses from a parent study exploring views on medication management and deprescribing for advanced cancer patients.
